The Squire Farm Cottages

Squire Cottage is a haven from the stresses of the modern world. From the moment we walked into this charming period cottage to the moment we left we felt more relaxed. The lack of mobile reception and internet far from being a problem, was the perfect digital detox. When we arrived on the Friday afternoon the cottage was ready for us, with fresh flowers and bread on the kitchen table and a basket of logs next to the fireplace. Peter and Becky were the perfect hosts, never intrusive - but we had the feeling they were always available if needed. The downstairs layout was perfect for 2 adults and 3 dogs, being open plan we could all keep an eye on each other no matter what we were doing. The kitchen is well equipped and had all the essentials. The view from the kitchen window almost made us ignore the dishwasher and wash up by hand...but only almost. Upstairs the bed was large and comfortable, and the heating kept the room temperature at an ideal level despite the first tinges of autumn cool. The shower was a pleasant surprise having a pressure unknown in other cottages we have rented. Outside, was ideal for late night walkies, and so quiet. Each morning and evening the sunrise and sunset streamed along the valley creating perfect photographers light. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the glorious countryside. Knighton, and the bizarre Harry Tuffins was convenient for shopping, but there are numerous other places for the serious foody to explore. All in all a wonderful break - and a great introduction to Shropshire.

Booked this for my birthday and it was a fantastic weekend away! The location was beautiful surrounded by mountains which made it so peaceful- recommend walking up Caer caradoc as the views at the top are stunning! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. The only suggestion would oven gloves. We loved the homemade bread, milk, butter and eggs on arrival- lovely touch! The hot tub is a lovely addition to the cottage as well and we made good use of it especially sat under the stars (even if a little chilly). Was so nice to get away from civilisation, WiFi and signal and have some proper down time. Thank you so much to Becky and Peter!!

Love love loved our stay in Xidong Cottage. The remote location was wonderful to get away from it all. The cottage itself is beautiful and very well equipped. The lovely welcoming touches of local milk, eggs, butter and fresh bread was so thoughtful and gratefully received. We took advantage of the private hot tub which was a perfect addition to our stay, star gazing in it at night was fantastic. We used the supplied dvds and the games and the cottage was spot on for a cosy quiet weekend away. Couldn't recommend it more! We will be returning for sure ! Thank you

Xidong has to be experienced. With its open, calm, tranquil feel throughout. Our three nights stay consisted of looking up at the beautiful old beams, taking in the space which surrounded us inside and out. Very peaceful and relaxing. Location is just Heaven Would recommend friends and family with another visit from ourselves at somepoint. The only criticism we both had was we felt that the log burner was to small for such a large room plus needed a little TLC in places. Would be a great benefit to this amazing getaway.

Our hosts left us a lovely welcome back of fresh bread, butter, milk and eggs, together with fresh flowers. The cottage is very old, but has the modern comforts of central heating and a great shower. There is a huge open fire, we were warm without this, but it's very appealing. The surrounding countryside is tranquil with interesting and lively villages and good pubs to explore. Such beautiful countryside. I can highly recommend Squire Cottage.

Xidong cottage is located in beautiful surroundings. It was a very relaxing and peaceful weekend. The cottage is absolutely lovely with a hot tub in the garden. We didnt see another person (Very secluded) while we were there. The perfect weekend - wish we had booked a few more days. We will definetely go back.

Fantastic Old cottage in a beautiful valley. Great place to stay. Lovely old building in an amazing location. Very rural and quiet. Facilities excellent with all you need. In the kitchen. Very friendly and helpful owners. Would recommend to anyone.

We booked this property to get away from the outside world, play video games, drink wine and enjoy a dip in the jacuzzi. Everything is as described on the website. We will book again.

Lovely stay, all too short, would definitely go back again, very comfortable beds! Fab fireplace, which I think would be needed in winter.
