The Fisherman's Retreat

We held our wedding at The Fisherman's Retreat this summer (the ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception) and had a wonderful day from start to finish. The wedding coordinator, Stephanie, knew our plans and wishes for the day inside out and we were amazed by her ability to keep everything running perfectly smoothly, from the set up of the rooms to managing the waiting staff, while being always on hand at a moment's notice if we needed her. The waiting staff were equally impressive – consistently warm, friendly and professional – and many of our guests commented on this. The drinks reception was served at 1.30pm and several of the same faces were still around well after midnight when my husband and I left, cheerfully helping us to find things and complimenting us on what a wonderful day it had been. We really felt that every staff member genuinely cared about our day being a success and went above and beyond in every area. We never once felt that we were “just another wedding,” or that anything was done half-heartedly. Throughout the day and in the weeks afterwards, we had countless guests commenting on how unique the venue was; the brilliant views; how quality and presentation of the food; and how friendly and professional the staff were. On the morning of the wedding, my bridesmaids and I got ready at The Stables B&B, where Liz was always close by offering cups of tea, breakfast and even appearing at one point with a bottle of bubbly! She also came to the rescue with my last minute hair and dress crises, much to the relief of all of us On the wedding night, my husband and I stayed in the bridal suite, and my family stayed in the other two rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious and Liz willingly catered to everyone's completely different breakfast requests. We never felt rushed or that anything was too much trouble. We wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend both The Fisherman's and The Stables to anyone!

The Fisherman's hosted our wedding last weekend. Stephanie, the wedding coordinator, was an amazing point of contact throughout the process of arranging everything - she was extremely helpful and made planning our day stress-free. The day itself was a huge success; Ol and I had the best time and our guests also enjoyed themselves immensely. All our guests complimented The Fisherman's for the setting, the amazing views, the atmosphere, the food (especially the food, which was simply stunning!) - basically the entire day was amazing! We'd like to thank you for helping us have the most perfect day! My bridesmaids and I stayed at The Stables on the night before the wedding, and Ol and I stayed at The Stables on the night of the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, everything was calm and relaxed and myself and my bridesmaids had such a good time getting ready there. On the morning after the wedding Ol and I had the best start to married life thanks to an amazing breakfast cooked by our hosts, Liz and Hervey. Liz and Hervey were so helpful and ensured we had the perfect stay. We have also eaten out at the Fisherman's multiple times and have yet to have a bad meal! It is now one of our favourite places to eat. We would both happily recommend The Fisherman's Retreat as a wedding venue, and as a restaurant and we are unbelievably grateful that they helped make our wedding day so special.

We had no regrets in choosing the Fisherman's Retreat as our wedding venue. It is a spectacular location for photos and even inside our pictures came out well. We had many comments from guests at how friendly the staff were and how well everyone was served together on each table. The food and wine was great and all manner of food allergies were accounted for. Having two rooms avoided the hassle of being made to move from a room to be cleared for the evening event which often happens at wedding. We were clear what information we needed to provide to the wedding organiser at what point which meant the reception planning was as straightforward as possible. Moreover, the price was transparent and there weren't any hidden extras. We particularly appreciated the fact that the staff put our table decorations on the tables on the day. These little things made a big difference. Thanks to the team- we'd recommend you and we'll be back for a meal soon.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you from myself, and on behalf of Becky and Chris, Becky's stepfather, Martin, and her grandparents, Sherry and Alan, for the superb service you provided at every stage of Becky and Chris's wedding. You were always relaxed and friendly, but super efficient, and your meticulous planning ensured that Becky and Chris's big day was as special as we all hoped it would be. I cannot praise you and the rest of the team at The Fisherman's highly enough for the friendly and efficient service you all provided. Gary, the head barman, was such a delight! The feedback from all our guests on the quality of the food, the service and the venue has been amazing, so thanks, once again to you all, and my compliments to the chef and his staff.

We had the best day of our lives on the 19 August – you, Garry and the team played a huge part of it. It was so well organised, the food was a massive success, the drinks flowed, the staff were helpful and everyone had a great night – what more could we ask for?! We will certainly be back for reminiscent meals in the future (please never take the deep fried brie off the menu!!). Many thanks again!
