We had a lovely stay at the Elephant in Pangbourne last night. The girl on reception greeted us perfectly and our room was really quirky but with a perfect finish! Room 18 Car themed "Le Mans" was more than we could have asked for. I've I could pick up the bathroom and take it home I would have. The only thing I would say and possibly would have dropped a star was that the Television signal was awful to the point that you could watch anything at all. We don't stay in hotels to watch television anyway so wasn't a problem for us but other guests maybe so. We also ate in the Herd restaurant. Great concept of cooking the steaks in the old fire place in front of you. Great food theatre. Food was beautifully presented and the waiting staff were very knowledgable and pleasant. Restaurant was full and had a good atmosphere. Also went to the bar for a couple of Gins and again staff were working hard and engaging with customers. Breakfast was lovely and they even let me take my gfs food up stairs as she was still sleeping. Will stay again for sure as not only a great place but surprisingly well priced for what and where it is. Thanks again guys xxxx

We stayed the night for our 1st year anniversary (We got married here too!) And we couldn't of been anymore impressed. Some new staff members since the wedding but the same high quality service from them all. The new restaurant is amazing, our steak was cooked in front of us on a wood burning BBQ (if that's the right thing to call it). The steaks are just amazing and cooked to perfection. The chef was brilliant and very friendly along with the waitress and bar staff. Probably the best service we have experienced. The gardens have changed for the better with new seating areas and garden games, very relaxed atmosphere, it looks so much better. Once again a big thank you to Claire who helped organise a few surprises in the room for my wife, she couldn't do enough for you. We will be booking here again for our 2nd year anniversary! We love this place.

On new years day my wife had booked the whole family into the Spring Inn for a final holiday meal to end the Christmas festivities. When we all turned up at our allotted ^ 6oclock time the restaurant was shut and the manager was getting into his car in the car park. After speaking to him he said that the booking should never have been take as the were closed that evening and that he would contact us the next day to re- book with a discount for our inconvenience. We then looked for alternatives and found the Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne which I must sat turned out to be one of the best meals I have experienced in the Reading area in Many a Year. The service was seconded to none and the food was exceptional. The costs of the meal was very reasonable and the steak was one of the best we have ever encountered.

We had a lovely meal at The Elephant, Pangbourne just before Christmas. There is parking at the site and nearby. I use a wheelchair and there is excellent wheelchair access to the restaurant. There is very attractive Indian decor and I liked the atmosphere of the place immediately. The menu is very varied. The wine menu was very difficult to read as the writing was very small. The room is quite dimly lit. The service was charming. Sharing platter looked very good. Husband and I had crab and lobster cake. For mains the lamb fillet was pronounced excellent and the half lobster looked good, but a finger bowl was really needed. I chose risotto which is always my favourite. The dessert was a baked cheesecake (a particular favourite of mine) everyone wanted a taste though!!!!!

We spent a lovely night here last weekend. I was so pleased to find a welcoming hotel for both us and our border terrier! I don't know if the room is saved for dog owners but you couldn't tell, the bedding and everything else was top notch. Our room was in a separate building which was even better as I was worried that our dog might disturb people if he barked. We had access to a large garden and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a drink in the bar in the evening and were able to bring our dog down for breakfast which was also served in the bar area.Thank you for not making us feel like lepers just because we have a dog!

This is our second visit with our dog Jake. Every member of staff went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. They were wonderful with Jake too and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely visit again. The food was wonderful and everything was wonderfully relaxed. We would highly recommend it.a big thank you to them all.

Had a wonderful time at the Elephant, I met one of the Chefs called Claudio from Romania. I was so impressed by the quality of food and service, I recommended this restaurant to my friends and family. Since then my daughters best friend celebrated her Grandmother's birthday there. Excellent! Thank you Claudio for such a wonderful meal. :)

Best steak ever cooked over wood BBQ, rosemary and garlic rub, very tender and tasty, not had one as good as this for a long time, was here a few months ago and still the best. Beer also exceptional and service fantastic, chef and waiters very keen and friendly.

We had Afternoon Tea here today and were very impressed. A really nice selection of everything and loads of it! Our waiter was so friendly and helpful, even brought us a heater as we were cold! Couldn't fault it and will definitely be going back.
