Overview

The Cornwall Hotel & Spa is located in 43 acres of mature woodland, close to the working port of Charlestown and the fishing village of Mevagissey. A Victorian Manor House is at the heart of the historic estate, where guests are able to experience one of the original 18th Century rooms with far-reaching views across the gardens. The Hotel was extended in 2010 to include 65 contemporary woodland rooms, many with private balconies.

For larger groups, the self-catering woodland lodges offer an ideal hideaway - two- and three-bedroom properties are available, some with hot tubs, tucked away in a peaceful rural setting with free parking.

Guests have use of the extensive spa and leisure facilities, which include a large heated indoor infinity pool, steam room, sauna, gym and relaxation room. Spa treatments are also available, from facials to massage and manicure.

The Hotel also features a Restaurant, serving hot dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many of the items on the menu feature local produce, sourced for Cornish suppliers.

What makes a stay at The Cornwall Hotel, Spa & Estate unique?

The Cornwall Hotel is well-known for its exceptional customer service, friendly staff and warm welcome. Rooms are comfortable and spacious; the grounds, with winding woodland trails, manicured lawns and a 19th Century walled garden, are a highlight for many guests; facilities offer plenty for the whole family without having to travel far, with a spa, gym and many nearby walks, suitable for all abilities.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The Cornwall Hotel, Spa & Estate?

The Cornwall Hotel has 65 bedrooms, including junior suites, family rooms, luxury and superior. All are en-suite. Most bedrooms feature kingsize beds, which can be converted to twin if required, while the Junior Suites boast a canopy/poster bed and standard rooms in the historic manor house feature double beds. The rooms in the 18th Century Manor House are named after the family who first lived in the property in the 1800s, and maintain many original features. All rooms are comfortably furnished, providing guests with soft fluffy towels and robes, television, tea and coffee making facilities and free wifi. All rooms (excluding Standard) also include a private guest balcony.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the St Austell area?

The Cornwall Hotel is well located to explore everything Cornwall has to offer, including the nearby Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. The historic port of Charlestown, featured extensively in television and film, is a wonderful example of traditional Cornish cottages and harbour and is less than 2 miles away, while Mevagissey, with its working fishing port, narrow streets, gift shops and award-winning restaurants is just ten minutes by car. If you require help planning your visit, please speak to Reception who will be happy to help with suggestions, recommendations and directions.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

A full Cornish breakfast and Continental option is served in The Cornwall Restaurant every morning, featuring locally-sourced ingredients, cooked to perfection and served with fresh tea, coffee and fruit juice. Lunch and dinner are also available, while the Laura Ashley Tea Room offers quintessentially English afternoon teas, sweet treats and traditional Cornish cream teas daily.

For guests looking to sample flavours away from the Hotel, there are many excellent Restaurants to choose from, in Charlestown, Mevagissey, St Austell, Newquay and Truro.

Other Information

The Cornwall Hotel is dog-friendly, with dog-friendly hotel rooms and self-catering lodges. The Hotel also offers accessible rooms and rooms with inter-connecting doors for groups.

Reviews

When my husband and I arrived we were blown away by the setting of the hotel in approximately 42 acres. The long driveway led us to two ample sized carparks, a stones throw from the hotel. The reception, whilst small was inviting and beautifully decorated. The staff were all helpful and suggested we have a drink in the bar as we had turned up early and our room was not yet ready. We had two beautifully presented gin and tonics which were very reasonable priced. Once our room was ready we were directed where to go and were pleased that as requested we were given a room away from stairs, lifts and other potentially noisy areas. We were staggered by the size of the room and balcony, the view of the latter being over the estate which was beautiful. The room was beautifully decorated and spotless. Perfect tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely bathroom with a huge bath and shower. As we wanted privacy we decided to have our breakfast in our room both mornings and room service in the evenings The choice was perfect and the food fresh, locally sourced and lovely and hot. We struggled to finish our meals but only because the portions were very generous! The location was perfect for the Eden Project, just 10 minutes away. Also very close to Charlestown, a beautiful historic visitor attraction with a lovely museum and super refreshment options. A must for a visit. The spa was super, the staff so welcoming and helpful. Lovely steam and heat room, bubble pool and an affinity swimming pool. The perfect way to end a day after sightseeing. Lots of treatments available which we will try next time when we have more time. Overall a very relaxing hotel and location which certainly did me and my husband the world of good. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay simply perfect.

Booked 2 nights including a 3 course dinner on second night. Very stylish hotel, lovely big bedroom with balcony overlooking grounds, huge comfy bed, bath in room, very comfortable. The public rooms are well decorated and the staff welcoming, we were so comfortable that we stayed in and ordered from the bar menu on our first night, enjoyable food well priced. The spa and pool were clean and looked good, enjoyed the steam room, rainforest showers and sauna although thought the bubble pool was too cool to sit in- a shame, we didn't book any treatments. Our evening dinner was really enjoyable, our choice from the menu, a good wine list and well served, the staff made us feel welcome. Thankfully the background music was at just the correct level- well done on getting that right! Very happy to recommend staying here, in fact we will probably go back, there are also self catering lodges which the staff were happy to show us around.

This was our second weekend away here and we were not disappointed! Check in was easy and quick. Our room was lovely. Massive bed, lots of space and storage, a balcony with a lovely view of the grounds (it was so peaceful to sit out here with a cuppa in the morning) and the best part considering the weather... air con!! I rang down to reception on arrival and requested decaf tea bags and fresh milk - it arrived within minutes! The spa is so relaxing. I went both days of our stay and seemed to pick times when no one else was around. Lazing in the pool looking out to see rabbits frolicking in the garden was priceless. I loved the steam room and the outside chairs for relaxing

Arrived early but got sorted no problem, Shown the lodge we were in and it was gorgeous, bags of room, comfy, everything you need for a self service holiday. Kitchen with all the equipment you would have at home, e.g. cooker, dishwasher, washer etc. Brilliant. Three bedrooms were downstairs as you walk in through the front door, main bedroom has private bath, shower toilet and washbasin, the other two have a shower, toilet etc that they share. Ideal as a base for visiting all of Cornwall. A balcony overlooking the grounds is ideal for relaxing. Never tried the restaurant but told by other people staying there that the food was very good. would certainly go again!

..

We stayed for 2 nights for a mini-break. Hotel is in a great location. We visited the Eden Project & The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Both were 10-15 mins away. Check in was quick and easy. All staff we encountered throughout our stay were friendly and helpful. We stayed the in Gwendolyn Room which was in the main building. It was nicely decorated, a good size and well equipped.

..

'We stayed in one of the two bedroom lodges and were very impressed with the quality of accommodation and location. Set in beautiful gardens with no major noise from nearby roads. The lodge itself has been maintained to a high standard and had plenty of space for two adults and two boisterous boys'
