Overview

Hatchlands Park Garden is full of interest throughout the year, from the very first snowdrops to the summer wildflowers and the charming autumn colour. The house is open from April to October, but the park, shop and cafe are open for 363 days each year.

Where is Hatchlands Park located?

Hatchlands Park is located in East Clandon, Surrey. Follow the brown signs to main visitor car park on A246.

What style of garden is Hatchlands Park?

The parterre garden was originally designed by celebrated gardener, Gertrude Jekyll, back in 1900, and much of this design has been retained to this day. Planting includes heliotropes, marigolds, nicotiana, cosmos, salvia and foxgloves, with 250 lavender plants lining the edges of the beds. Marigolds were used by Gertrude Jekyll in the original garden, and were also used during WWI to make bandages.

What can guests enjoy at Hatchlands Park?

The Quiet Garden is the perfect place for contemplation, whilst the Parterre is a relaxing place to sit for a while. Seating is provided throughout, to make the most of the gardens and the views beyond. The house opens regularly from April to October, and is currently the home of Alec Cobbe, and his fascinating collection of art and instruments owned or played by celebrated composers, including Bizet, Chopin and Elgar.
