What is the history of Grimsthorpe Castle to the present day?
Built for a visit by Henry VIII in 1541, it replaced an earlier fortified lookout tower. The first view that visitors have of the castle is the impressive North Front, rebuilt by Sir John Vanbrugh in the 1720s. It has been home to the Willoughby de Eresby family since it was built and is still a lived-in family home.
