Overview

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is a 15-mile heritage railway running through the heart of the Cotswolds from Cheltenham Racecourse to Broadway. With stunning views of the Cotswold and Malvern scenery and a friendly welcome aboard, the GWSR makes a great day out for all the family.

Where is Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway located?

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway has stations at Cheltenham Racecourse, Winchcombe, Toddington and Broadway. Hayles Abbey Halt and Gotherington station can be visited upon request.

Details on what activities are available at Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway?

The railway offers an unparalleled opportunity to trial train travel from 50 years ago, hauled by steam, diesel or diesel railcar. The almost 30-mile round trip from Broadway to Cheltenham Racecourse has stunning views westwards of the Vale of Evesham, the Malverns and Wales and eastwards of the Cotswolds.

Things to do in the local area?

Take a trip back in time at Winchcombe in the 'Coffee Pot' - a 1950s style cafe complete with teapots and tea cosies! Model Railway and 'Discovery' Coaches also open on select days. Why not take a trip to the viewing area at Toddington Steam and Diesel sheds and see the volunteers working on the locomotives throughout the day; a perfect photo opportunity. Toddington station boasts not only one railway but two! Toddington Narrow-gauge Railway is a 2-foot narrow-gauge line and sits just beyond the carpark and runs on selected dates during the season. Broadway station sits nestled only a short walk from the village centre; a perfect gateway to picturesque countryside.

Other Information

Special events run throughout the year including 'Wartime in the Cotswolds', Food and Drink Fayres and the increasingly popular Steam and Diesel Gala weekends. Seasonal events include Santa Specials and Teddy Bear Tuesdays, both suitable for the young and the young at heart.

Toddington and Cheltenham stations offer ample free parking, whilst Broadway station provides perfect access to the quintessential Cotswold town.
