Reviews

We stayed for a short break and were hugely impressed from the outset. The room was spotless and spacious with a full range of facilities. The bar was stocked with an impressive array of whiskies and the restaurant menu was well-chosen, with every dish prepared and served with care. The restaurant has a long history of AA rosettes which are very well-deserved. There was nothing pretentious about the decor or the staff. The watchword was comfort. The staff morale was high and they were determined to ensure we were well looked after at all times. It would be a pleasure to stay there again and I'm sure we will at some point.

We received a voucher for a one night D,B&B stay as a Christmas present. We were greeted by the lovely Anne, who straight away upgraded us to a bigger room. The rooms are a breath of fresh air - after all the bland ‘neutral' decor of the chains we've stayed in lately - cute flowery wallpaper & quality furniture that's actually comfortable to sit in. We'd heard great things about the food here & we weren't disappointed. Both us & the couple at the neighbouring table, agreed that it was one of the finest meals we'd had in many a long year. The chef is the master of delivering fine dining that is big on taste.

Due to business demands, I've spent several months over the past few years so this review is broader than a single trip. The staff are more family than staff. The food is of the highest quality - especially when considering this small hotel is at the northern tip of the British Isles! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Northern Scotland - you can drive from one side to the other in a couple of hours, so no need to stay anywhere else :-) The whiskey bar is an unexpected delight - as is the very knowledgeable lady who will chat with you and figure out which whiskey is most likely to suit!

I was travelling to Caithness for work and couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. The room I stayed in is in the annex building and is huge, with patio doors out to woodland from which I heard an owl twit-twooing during the night! The bathroom has a double shower and bath and the breakfast and dinners were exceptionally good. I have never tasted beef fillet that tastes so good! Free tea, coffee, got chocolate and shortbread in the room. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service exemplary. I look forward to returning here one day to stay at my leisure.

The hotel is charming, quaint and highly recommend, the food they serve is simply put delicious and the young man that was serving was brilliant, very attentive and professional, rivals any restaurant in London. The bar was beautiful and I was told they have approx 215 scotches. The breakfast in the morning was delicious with plenty of options. I was only there one night and I wished I had booked more but I had a flight to catch in London. Thank you for the wonderful experience and I will be back.

It was our first time visiting Thurso and we couldn't have been more pleased to stay at Forss House Hotel. We loved the area and the hotel's surroundings. The room was gorgeous (I particularly loved the bath tub) and the room heats up nicely - great in the cold weather. The breakfast was great too. We only really met one member of staff and she was lovely and attentive. We would love stay here again.

We arrived after a long drive and were greeted by the wonderful Anne. She absolutely makes the hotel and couldn't have been more courteous and helpful. We had a fabulous room with the most comfortable bed. Breakfast was first class and we were looked after by a lovely lady. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in.

Myself & my husband just had the most wonderful night in Forss House hotel. The most luxurious, beautiful room ( Cairnmore), amazing food, such attentive staff & the most beautiful surroundings. Can't wait to go back again. This place is a little, romantic gem

Very comfortable garden room with patio doors looking out on the gardens. Spotlessly clean and warm. Staff were attentive and helpful, food fantastic. Situated with a waterfall and river in the grounds. Wished we had stayed longer.
