Myself and my two children (14 and 12) spent a week in a Golden Oak cabin at Cropton in July and had a great stay. The cabin was very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The hot tub was great too. There is no DVD player but the system in teh cabin allows easily for HDMI, USB or AV connections to be utilised so no problems at all. The site is very relaxing and peaceul and the staff are all really helpful and friendly. We had our bikes with us and the paths and track around the site were really good for this. They vary in their degree of difficulty so its easy to find something to suit all. In terms of activities we did the Ranger experience with Rob and this was very enjoyable with something for all and an excellent host. Additionally we cycled over to the adjacent Keldy site to try Archery. The instructor, AJ, was brilliant and we all had a great experience there. His instruction was great and the kids really enjoyed it too. Additionally the site is very well placed for a multitude of places to visit including Scarborough, Eden Camp, Castle Howard, Pickering and the North York Moors Railway. All of which we tried and enjoyed very much. Overall a great trip and a great destination. Definite recommendation and we would most certainly go back.

We booked here because it was a good size, allowed dogs, and of course had a hot tub. We stayed in a golden oak cabin and it was perfect. Very clean, open and good sized rooms. The kitchen had Everything we could need, and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast around the table. Hot tub was cleaned daily, and although could have been a little warmer and stronger for the adults, the kids loved it. We went on a survival skills course with Rob, the kids learned how to find and build shelter, and thru had a great time. The older kids and my other half went to the night vision course with the ranger also, they saw lots of wildlife and were pleased when they came home. We really had a fantastic time in the woods, around the site and even managed a trip to Scarborough beach and flamingo land too. Thanks for a very wonderful holiday.

Just got back from an amazing weekend spent here. We stayed in cabin 43, one of the Golden Oak Hideaways. The sunken bath tub, the hammock & the hot tub were the best things about our stay. When looking at booking this the price may put a lot of people off but if you book you really will not be disappointed. The only thing we would suggest to management is maybe planting some bushes around each cabin to make it more secluded, other than that we can't wait to book again!!
