A simply beautiful ivy-clad Regency mansion, renting this place really feels as if you are living the life of a laird as you descend the majestic spiral staircase, flooded with light from a glass cupola above, to chat with old friends and family in the lovely public rooms (all cornicing, fireplaces and giant windows). The kitchen is a real focal point for the house, its designer 21st century fittings and appliances contrasting with the elegant Regency feel of the rest of the house. But if you don't fancy cooking, a chef can be booked to prepare all meals. Bedrooms on the first floor have wonderful high ceilings, roomy four poster beds and beautiful décor (each has a theme) and there are two cosy doubles and two family rooms in the attic. A lower ground floor has two triple bedrooms plus its own sitting room/kitchen.

There's a whole host of things to do nearby – Cortes is only a 10-minute drive from gorgeous beaches, making it easy to explore the dunes and adventure out. For those golf-minded guests, you will be lucky enough to be just half an hour away from the Trump International Golf Links Course. Cortes House is also close to a lot of culture, from Slaines Castle (that inspired Dracula), to the charming town of Pennan immortalised in the beautiful film Local Hero.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
While most guests prefer to prepare their own meals in the house, there are occasions when the last thing you want to do is to cook for 30 people, so, available on request, a private caterer can be arranged for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
