We visited the library as a last minute plan and we were not disappointed by that choice. We were amazed!!! You need to wait for the o'clock of each hour (only during the mornings) and a guide will collect the visitors from the main door. Our guide that day was Mr. David Green. He showed us around the old building and the library talking about the historical details throughout the years. We really enjoyed his knowledge and sense of humour. The library was GORGEOUS and as a literature student I loved all the details that Mr. Green pointed from every corner. Also, to be in the same illuminated corner that Engels and Marx were debating the outline of his Manifesto was an absolute pleasure. It's free and at the end you can leave a voluntary donation. Mr. Green was one of the main reasons to leave a generous donation as he made us fall in love with Chetham's Library. He was really engaging with our visitor group. 10/10! One hour to keep knowing things about Manchester... Thank you!

This incredible library is a must see in Manchester! We visited on a Heritage Day and apparently were able to see nooks and crannies that aren't a usual part of the tour. Hard to believe one is in the center of a busy metropolitan city.
