Discover one of Scotland's most lush gardens This charming Branklyn2-acre garden, a sanctuary of peace within easy reach of Perth, was established in the early 1900s by John and Dorothy Renton with the aid of seed collections from plant hunters such as Forest, Ludlow and Sheriff. Gardeners and botanists from around the world come to this lovely rock garden as well as its outstanding range of cool-climate plants, especially dwarf rhododendrons, alpine, blue poppies, lilies and herbaceous as well as other peat-loving plants. What can guests enjoy at Branklyn Garden?
This beautiful garden, a pleasant haven within easy reach of Perth city centre, was created by John and Dorothy Renton in the early 1920s after they designed their Arts & Crafts-inspired home. It's on the side of Kinnoull Hill, overlooking Perth.
The couple were happy to have a garden of exotic and unique plants and flowers from all over the world. Thanks to the seeds gathered by famous plant hunters (including George Forrest and Frank Ludlow) and the exceptional gardening abilities of Dorothy, the couple's wishes were granted.
