Overview

Enter an beautiful world, a sixteen-sided house enlivened by the staggering experiences of two savagely independent spinster sisters, Mary and Jane Parminter, who went on a visit around Europe. From walls affectionately adorned with hundreads of feathers and shells, to particular diamond shaped windows, this house is genuinely interesting. Have a meander around the strange Octagon room with eight entryways leading off it; which one will you pick?

What is the history of A La Ronde to the present day?

This remarkable sixteen-sided house was depicted by Lucinda Lambton as having 'a magical strangeness that one may dream of just as a kid'. It was worked for two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter, on their arrival from a great voyage through Europe in the late eighteenth century. It contains numerous items and mementoes of their movements. The remarkable interior incorporates a plume frieze, assembled from local game feathered creatures and chickens, arduously stuck down with isinglass. There is likewise a delicate shell-encrusted display, said to contain about 25,000 shells, which can be seen completely utilizing a touch screen 360 degree virtual tour.
