A stay at Whitton Hall is like stepping back in time. There is a warm welcome as it is still a family home and the gardens are lovingly kept by the owners, Christopher & Gill, who have retired to the adjacent Garden Cottage. Their daughter Kate now lives in the house and runs the B&B. One guest recently used the word 'serendipity' to describe his visit to this small corner of Shropshire heaven. Wonder around the woodland gardens and watch bird life around the lake. Leave all your worries behind.
What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Whitton Hall?
Whitton Hall has five large bedrooms, each looking onto different aspects of the beautiful gardens. Three of the rooms are in the main house and two more in the wing adjacent to the house. The rooms are furnished with antiques and have hotel standard beds and linen. They all have televisions, tea trays, hair dryers and bathrobes. There is a drawing room and sitting room available for guests to relax in. Breakfast and supper are served in the dining room and there is a lovely honesty bar hidden away in a tiny library full of Penquin books.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Shrewsbury area?
Guests are well placed to venture into Wales and discover Powis Castle, the market town of Montgomery and the beautiful walks around Lake Vyrnwy. Shrewsbury offers wonderful medieval and Georgian architecture, old churches and fabulous independent shops and cafes. A walk along River Severn through the park in the summer is always a treat. Visit the many gardens of Shropshire such as Hodnet Hall and Wollerton Old Hall. Walking on the Stiperstones, Breiddens, Long Mynd, Lawley, Caradoc - amazing views from all of them.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
Delicious breakfasts are served at Whitton and if you are a group of four or more you can book supper in advance. However if you feel like venturing further afield, Shrewsbury is a 20 minute drive away and offers a wide selection of independently owned cafes and restaurants. Nearer to home there is The Yockleton Arms and The Windmill which are great for popping out for a quick bite and a five minute drive from the house. Food allergies catered for if told in advance. Most ingredients are sourced from walled vegetable garden, free range hens or the local markets and farm shops.
Other Information
Dogs are welcome in the Apple Room but not in the main house. The owners have dogs which sleep in outside kennels.
