Overview

The School House B&B is a small B&B in Shropshire. In the former Victorian schoolhouse there are just three stylish and comfortable rooms, each of which has its own unique character. Views from all rooms are of a rural idyll. The School House is ideally located for visiting Ludlow or getting out and exploring South Shropshire.

What makes a stay at The School House B&B unique?

The welcome and hospitality you receive at The School House is what makes it unique. Many guests return to enjoy the homeliness that is offered to them whilst staying at The School House B&B. The location in-between the historic food-loving town of Ludlow, the scenic Shropshire Hills and the Welsh Marches is a delight many have enjoyed discovering. Clare & Dave have a wealth of knowledge about the local area and events so can make suggestions of where to visit and help to make your stay that little bit more enjoyable.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at The School House B&B?

The School House B&B offers you a choice of three cosy & delightful rooms. One room, Brineddin, has it's own lounge. The Caradoc room has a vaulted ceiling and feature windows. The en-suite in this room also has a deep bath. The ground floor, dog friendly room, Redlake, has a private entrance. Each of the rooms has a large comfy bed made up with sumptuous Egyptian cotton linens. The en-suites have powerful showers with fluffy white towels and bathrobes. Within your clean and spacious room you will also find a sofa and TV together with teas, coffees and nibbles. Fresh milk and local water will be in the fridge where you can store other drinks. Wine glasses are provided.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Bucknell area?

Set in a quiet area of the Shropshire Hills you will be close to the food-lovers town of Ludlow. The medieval town has many unusual independent shops displaying much of the area's high quality local produce. Ironbridge and Church Stretton are other towns well worth exploring. You will also be close to some splendid walking areas such as The Long Mynd, The Stiperstones and Wenlock Edge. In the map room you will find details of these as well as walks that can be done from the front door. The National Trust own several attractions nearby such as Croft Castle, Powis Castle and Attingham Park. As well as the historic properties there are the extensive grounds to explore.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Shropshire is a foodie's heaven! Most of the nearby pubs serve excellent food. The Baron at Bucknell is just a 6 minute drive from The School House , Clare & Dave love eating there. The nearby villages of Leintwardine, Clun & Knighton also have pubs serving good food. Of course if you wanted to stay in you could either have one of the bedroom picnics (if ordered in advance) or bring in some nibbles yourself. Plates and glasses can be provided. There are plenty of options to treat yourself to something nice!

We can't speak highly enough of this lovely B&B. We have loved it here. Beautiful room - super bathroom & lovely breakfasts. Clare & David are brilliant hosts. Today we did a full day based on Dave's ideas - we followed it to the letter. He knows the area & his advise was better than any tourist office. Thanks David - even the pub was great with it's 1/3 pints. Sorry to go. Thank you to both of you.
