Overview

Designed by the celebrated Art and Crafts architect WD Caroe back in 1896, The Old Vicarage sits up on the knoll outside the village of Evenjobb in the Radnor Valley on the Welsh Herefordshire border. Sitting within a walled garden, paddocks and woodland with miles and miles of rolling countryside beyond, this is your holiday bolthole with wonderful walks, great cycling, riding, sightseeing and golfing all at your doorstep. On arrival you'll be shown into the sitting room for a welcome cup of tea with homemade scones or cake by the log fire and then shown to your room – there are three, two doubles and a twin, all lovingly furnished with en-suite shower and private bathrooms and with far reaching views. In the morning, breakfast featuring home-made preserves and garden produce is taken either in the sunny breakfast room or outside if the weather is fine. Then it's time to set out and explore – ask for a packed lunch to keep you going on your travels or pop into one of the many traditional pubs in the area. If you fancy a little more home cooking, you can arrange for a three course evening meal at the end of the day back at The Vicarage too. Bring your own wine to accompany it! Perfect.

Reviews

The countryside is varied and interesting. The house is close to Offa's Dyke Path. It is spacious and well appointed, surrounded by large pleasant lawns. There are good views of the countryside from the house. The food and the hospitality are excellent.
