The Old Stables

The Horse has Bolted, the Tamworth's, Old Spot's and Saddleback's are safe from the Big Bad Wolf, the Chickens have been put to bed and the Cat is now well and truly out of the bag! Discretely nestled down a private drive, tucked away behind the Poachers Pocket, lays a hidden gem. The horses have made way for what is now a stunningly hostelry with lots of charm and character with the most welcoming host Alyson, Simon, their daughter Wendy and Jasper the golden retriever, who are the most welcoming of people. The accommodation is superb, comfortable and cosy, with every eventuality catered for and then more, things that you just would not normally consider, there are thoughtful touches everywhere. Breakfast is excellent, whatever your taste, every aspect is catered for. The Old Stables really is the most spectacular place to stay, not just in Shepton Mallet, or in Somerset, but as the advert says, 'most probably the best' ever...certainly in our experience! The word is out on this hidden gem!!!

Some people run a BnB as a sideline or a money earner, it normally shows. Alyson and Simon are thoroughly professional. They have created a wonderful atmosphere of friendliness and tranquillity, their attention to detail would put most top boutique hotels to shame. Our room was spacious it had an enormous comfortable bed and loads of little extras. We were so relaxed we didn't bother with the mindfulness colouring book complete with pencils that were provided. the Old Stables Breakfasts compete with the best full English/Irish or Scottish that I have had. Even if Somerset is not where you want to go for your break, go to the Old Stables anyway, you wont regret it.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Old Stables. What can we say...... It is a perfect, quiet, relaxing haven. The room was amazing, the bed so very comfortable and enormous, the bathroom had a brilliant shower and wonderfully soft towels and the breakfasts are to die for. Alyson & Simon have thought of everything you could need and their detailed touches just make the stay even more perfect. Their friendly welcome made us immediately feel at home. We will definitely be returning and our advice to anyone thinking of a visit is, don't think twice just book for a wonderful break. Thank you Alyson & Simon

5 star accommodation with the most comfortable bed, and a thousand little touches and extras to make you feel welcome and at home. Clean and attractive, and hosts Alyson & Simon make you feel extremely welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts were amazing, and huge! to set you up for any adventure during the day. Attention to detail second to none. Amazing breakfast, comfy bed, luxurious yet homely. Absolutely loved it. Will be coming here again. Fantastic hosts. We cannot praise this place enough. Ideally located for visiting Somerset. Also for an evening meal try the short walk to the local Poacher's Inn.

Alyson and Simon are impeccable hosts. If you're thinking about staying here...just do it. They are excellent at running a B&B. Beautiful rooms, fine linen, thoughtful touches in the room, delicious brekkie. Just wish that their new puppy had arrived when we were there. Will stay again for sure!
