Overview
Stewart House is a grade II listed, Georgian home dating from the 1700s, set in the delightful fishing town of Whitby in Yorkshire. The owners Nicky & Phil have turned their home into a beautifully restored luxury Bed & Breakfast offering comfort and relaxation.
There are 2 parking spaces opposite, and a scratch-card for parking in nearby streets is otherwise available.
Stewart House is located in a peaceful square, just around the corner from Skinner Street with its wide array of shops and tea rooms, and up the road from the local pub, which occasionally features live music. The Pavilion, the West Cliff promenade, the beach and the centre of the town with its array of shops and attractions are all a short walk away.
A good start to the day is built on your breakfast, and at Stewart House the delicious cooked breakfasts are prepared using local ingredients, including sausages and bacon from Jacksons in nearby Ruswarp. Kippers from Sandgate Fisheries are a local delicacy, and are well-recommended! We can also cater for special diets (e.g., vegetarian; gluten-free).
There is so much to see and do during your stay, Whitby is renowned for its links to Bram Stoker's Dracula, so why not join one of the dusk tours? The imposing Abbey on the cliff top opposite is a must-see, popularly reached by the 199 steps. Further afield smaller villages, including Robin Hood's Bay, Grosmont (for the hub of the North Yorks Moors Railway) and Goathland (Heartbeat country), are focus points among the stunning beauty of the surrounding Yorkshire coast and Moors.
Reviews
Ideal location just off Skinner Street with parking opposite in a reserved space. We stayed in the Duck Room on the top floor with a nice private bathroom opposite. This room is not called the Duck Room for nothing! Phil and Nicky were lovely hosts and very friendly - probably the nicest we have come across in Whitby over 25 years. The breakfast is cooked to order and nothing was too much trouble. There is the added bonus of a lounge on the ground floor to use if you wish plus a good selection of books. Would not look any further if you are looking for a nice, friendly and well thought through BB in Whitby!

ucked away in a quiet side street 5 minutes walk from the quayside of Whitby this place is a gem that we will definitely use again. We stayed in the Duck room on the top floor, so called because anyone taller than 5ft 6 inches has to duck to enter. Room has loads of character, wooden beams etc and consisted of two single beds, and the sole use of a large bathroom accessed across a private landing. Both room and bathroom where very clean.
Selection of cereals, yoghurt or a cooked breakfast available served by great hosts in a laid back, unhurried atmosphere.

We were charmed by the place as soon as we reached the door -the warmth of welcome from Phil and Nicky was amazing.
The building has been restored with a passion that is hard to adequately convey and the result is just stunning. The quality of the fixtures and fittings and the style used results in accommodation that is truly superb.
The food and it's service is at the same high standard.
Absolutely loved our stay here and cannot wait for the next visit.

Although we arrived early, Nicky and Phil let us use the ir private parking space. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable as was the lounge. It has been decorated with extremely god taste and was most relaxing. Everything was perfect, host, lounge bedroom facilities. We will be back. As it was my birthday I even got a card and a candle in my sausage! Many thanks
