Formerly a gentleman's residence and originally built in 1740 then extended in 1908, Sheriff Lodge is a short walk away from the bustle of the city. Highly positioned, the rooms overlook the Derwent Valley and Riber Castle, High Tor and Pic Tor - an ideal base in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales to cater for activities of all ages.
What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Sheriff Lodge?
All the five rooms have been recently renovated to make your stay in Matlock more comfortable, though at the same time elevating it to calm with lots of extras. Amenities are included in rooms: ‘Things You May Have Forgotten Box’, seven-foot beds, power showers in all rooms and baths in two of the rooms, luxurious Christy towels, extra blankets, extra pillows, fresh flowers, sweeties, 32” TVs with Netflix, standalone radiator, turbo fan, magazines, as well as more than you would expect on the hospitality tray, with Fairtrade goods where available. You will be offered homemade cake and a cuppa on arrival.
What can guests enjoy when staying in the Matlock area?
Derbyshire, a charming area of the country, it has something for all, attractions for all ages, walking, biking, fishing, stately homes, antique shops, a host of fine restaurants – all very close by and easily accessible. Other places of interest are Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Abraham Heights, Crich Tramway Village. You can go on plenty of walks from the Lodge and pick up the written out directions. There are plenty of leaflets to enhance your stay and help you fill your day.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
The breakfast menu is a la carte with homemade bread, jams, marmalade etc as well as breakfast cooked to order. Don't forget to ask for the Daily Special! All products are sourced locally wherever possible, White Peak sausages and bacon, Matlock Meadows eggs, flour from Caudwell Mill. Gluten-free and vegetarian needs are also met. Of course, the Derbyshire oatcakes is on the menu.
