The town of Kilwinning is in North Ayrshire on the banks of the River Garnock. The remains of Eglinton Castle leading to the Country Park are nearby as well as the stunning ruins of Kilwinning Abbey which was founded in the 12th century and large parts of which were destroyed in the reformation. Another place of architectural interest is the Abbot Adams Bridge over the river constucted in medieval times.
