The village of Coxwold in North Yorkshire is approx. 18 miles north of York and is situated on a slight incline. The village boasts a church with its origins dating back to 700 AD. The author Rev Laurence Sterne wrote Tristram Shandy and A Sentimental Journey whilst residing at Shandy Hall from 1760 to 1768.
