Overview

St Cuthbert's House is a 5 Star, award-winning B&B (voted Visit England's 'Best B&B in England 2017', and also in 2014) in a 200 year-old former chapel. It's a unique and stunning renovation, situated in Seahouses on the beautiful Northumberland coast, just a stroll along the beach from Bamburgh Castle, and a short drive from Alnwick Castle & Gardens, or Linidisfarne – Holy Island. It's a peaceful, unique and very special place to stay. This lovely, historic Grade II listed building has been tastefully renovated to provide you with beautiful B&B accommodation, brimming with high-quality facilities. We've taken care of every detail in your room, including the sumptuous pocket-sprung SuperKing-size bed - after taking in some fresh, clear Northumbrian air, you'll sleep deeper and softer than ever before. In the morning, you can treat yourself to a hearty Northumbrian Breakfast, enjoying the highest quality local ingredients, beautifully prepared and elegantly presented.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at St Cuthbert's House?

St Cuthbert's House has six unique bedrooms. The Aidan and Comuba Rooms are both south-facing front rooms with the original arches windows with frosted glass which lets the morning light flood in. Both bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom with a very large shower enclosure. The Brigid and Hild Rooms benefit from the afternoon light streaming through their first-floor window, bringing the tasteful and classic colours bursting into light. Oswold and Bede are the two ground floor bedrooms, offering easy, level access to the room from the car park, and from there into the dining room and all communal areas of the house. It is therefore particularly suitable for guests with mobility problems. All the rooms benefit from 'standard' bedroom facilities of course - SuperKing-size beds (Aidan is a 'double-only' room), Nespresso machine, LCD flat-panel TV, DVD, CD/DAB radio, kettle with a wide range of drinks (we also have a fridge in the Cuthbert Room where you can help yourself to fresh milk), and a salon-quality hairdryer.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Seahouses area?

Perfectly located, with easy access to Northumberland's amazing coast and country, its expansive, pristine beaches, big skies and wide, open horizons. The harbour is a fascinating and interesting place to while away some time - with or without a pint. You can take or see the most iconic photo at Bamburgh Castle, but be sure to get in the right position to take it. In West Fleetham there is a tiny birdhide where you can lose yourself. A small piece of water lies outside the lane. At Monks House there's a large pool with fascinating bird life as well.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

At St. Cuthberts House, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, which is why everything is prepared fresh for your chosen arrival time in the dining room. Treat yourself to a traditional, hearty Northumbrian breakfast, prepared with the highest quality ingredients which is elegantly presented.

Reviews

The St Cuthbert's Way is not only a Northumbrian footpath, it is 'The Way' to run the perfect B&B - as practised by your hosts, Jeff & Jill. With world-class communication before, during and after your stay, and an unrivalled attention to detail from the minute you arrive, this is the way to keep guests wanting more of the same.

Our time... has been a delight from beginning to end. You've been brilliant - from the comfort of the accommodation, through booking dinner, to suggestions of what to do and where to visit. We truly haven't stayed in a better B&B. Thank you so much for a wonderful time.

Linda & SteveH

Wow, Jill & Jeff... the warmest of welcomes, every little thing carefully considered, and that fine line betweeen helfulness and allowing own space trodden to perfection! Just how many friends do we tell? I think we tell all of them - and we certainly will be back.

Marian & ChrisB

You strike a perfect balance at St Cuthbert`s House by incorporating the comfort and style of a first class hotel into the cosy informality of a five star bed and breakfast. It was like staying with friends...

Roger & IngridC

St. Cuthberts House is, without doubt, one of the best Bed & Breakfast experiences that you are ever likely to experience. The place is, quite frankly, faultless.

Ron & NicoleF

Our stay fulfilled my expectations in every way - and the fact that they were very high says it all. We will most definitely recommend you to friends and family.

Sandie & JamieM

You two go the extra mile in everything, and your warm welcome and ready advice have enhanced our stay. The B&B to beat...
