What can guests enjoy when staying in the Alnwick area?

Northumberland is famous for its miles of golden, deserted beaches, where you would be pushed to bump into anyone else. The Northumbrian countryside is second to none, and the rugged moors are atmospheric to say the least. There are castles galore, including the ever popular Alnwick and Bamburgh, both in a short driving distance. However I feel the jewel in the crown is Warkworth Castle, which is situated directly opposite! Warkworth village itself is popular and picturesque, with its many cosy pubs, eateries and galleries. The river Coquet encompasses this wonderful village and a walk alongside the river, to catch site of the odd heron, swans, ducks and seals is a popular pastime with all guests.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

The breakfast menu here is award wining, varied and much praised! Evening meals are not available, but lots of guests choose from the in room dining, and picnic hamper menu, which offer both hot and cooked items should you wish to relax in your room rather than go out. The immediate area offers some truly wonderful eateries, using lots of fresh seasonal produce and you only have to ask for recommendations. Roxbro House delight in offering complimentary cheese and wine each evening to guests and complimentary sherry on arrival, should this be your tipple? Indulgent treats are available to pre-order, such as Champagne and strawberries, handmade local chocolates, flowers etc Traditional afternoon tea is also available to pre- order.

Stayed for two nights in the Ethel Noble room and it was a truly relaxing and luxurious stay. Not only is the house beautifully furnished and looked after by the owners with great care and attention, there is much more to it than this. Some places that we stay are aesthetically pleasing but lack in comfort and can be ‘top show', but not Roxboro House. The crisp linens, goose feather pillows, lovely towels and toiletries all make for such a comfortable stay. The tea tray has quality produce, fine cups, cafitiere etc. and these details matter when you take a break from busy work lives. We really appreciated the decor, with the beautiful canopy bed which was so comfortable; as well as the fabulous bathroom with claw foot bath; like going back in time to an era when furniture was made properly. The food was a delight at breakfast and the owners and staff were helpful and friendly. I loved how private the room felt and the castle just outside was a bonus. What a lovely stay, the owners clearly love their home and know exactly how to cater for guests. If we good give it ten stars we would, Roxboro House has what a lot of establishments lack and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending. The best B&b stay we have experienced. Thank you!

Fabulous B&B that is more luxurious than most hotels you stay in. Lovely interior throughout. Bedroom was very comfortable and the bed dreamy. Lovely welcoming touches from the fire that burnt in the residents lounge (very cold weather) which was most welcoming, to scrummy free chocolate cake & cheese and biscuits from 5-6 pm. The breakfasts were amazing, best breakfast I've had in a hotel for a long time and the breakfast menu was varied, something for everyone from the health conscious to lets indulge we are away from home.... It was very private, we were shown to our room, shown around and then left on our own, nobody hovering every time you went in or out. But you knew there was someone there if you should need anyone. Stunning location, Warkworth is a lovely little village and perfect place for exploring, Alnmouth, Bamburgh, Craster, Seahouses, Beadnell and the rest of Northumberland. You'd be mad to go any where else !

We visited Roxbro House for our 10 year wedding anniversary for 2 nights and it was the perfect romantic getaway. The Ethel Noble room was luxurious with outstanding views of Warkworth Castle. There was no detail missed in the room with chocolates, fruit and a full choice of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. The ensuite was delightful and the room were exceptionally clean too. The period decoration was completely spot on and complemented the hotel too. The breakfasts were superb from the first day having a full English to trying the Roxbro Rosti and Eggs Benedict the second morning. Roxbro House comes highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights and were delighted with everything about Roxbro. We got a warm, friendly welcome from Stu and our room ( number 1 ) was warm, comfortable and very well appointed. The downstairs lounge is lovely with mulled wine on tap during the duration of our stay not to mention mince pies. The cooked breakfast was excellent and I can certainly recommend the Craster kipper with poached egg. We hope to return at some time in the future.

Roxboro House excellent accommodation. We definitely want to return. We were in room 3 and appreciated the wonderful hot power shower not the usual slow drip ones we had experienced at other places. There was a good choice of hot and cold food at breakfast. We ordered the seafood and ploughmans platter for the first evening absolutely scrumptious .Clair and Stu are very welcoming hosts

We booked for a two night stay and could not believe how perfect the place is. It was so warm and friendly, beautifully decorated and Christmas music playing. Our room overlooked Warkworth Castle, was so warm, perfectly appointed with added extras. The lounge had a roaring fire, mulled wine and nibbles and between 6 and 7pm cheese and wine. Lovely breakfast room. Absolutely 5 star.

Don't drive past , This is the one you are looking for. A relaxing warm friendly well run hotel who's owners try to provide and succeed in providing our every need. We enjoyed a very happy stay here, you won't be disappointed. We used it as a base for walks along the beaches from bamburgh to craster. All other reviews give the details so I won't repeat them. Enjoy !
