Mere Brook House is a charming Edwardian house, standing in almost four acres of gardens and grounds, offering quality B&B accommodation. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens, with mature trees, grassy paddocks and woodland which leads down to the Mere Brook.

Mere Brook is located in the pretty village of Thornton Hough, on the Wirral, with easy access to Chester and Liverpool. The gardens are a real highlight of the property, offering space to relax in, with the chance to spot bird, butterflies and wildlife from the garden lounge, the conservatory, or any of the 8 guest bedrooms. Mere Brook can also host weddings, celebration events and business meetings. For intimate gatherings, private dining can be offered, along with luxury accommodation. Free WiFi is available throughout.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Mere Brook House?

Mere Brook House has eight guest bedrooms, all of which are ensuite. Guests are welcome to make use of the house and the coach house, including three lounges. Guests can also enjoy homemade cakes, cheese, homemade chutneys, tea, coffee and fruit juice, which are all available in the kitchen. WiFi is available throughout the property. All rooms have comfortable beds with quality pocket-sprung mattresses, along with TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Wirral is something of a hidden gem, with a stunning coastline and the 12-mile Wirral Way to explore it from. Both Liverpool and Chester are just a short drive away, with many well-known attractions in each, for guests to explore. Liverpool Golf Club is also close by. There are many sandy beaches on The Wirral, along with acres of National Trust land, including Caldy Hill, Eastham Country Park, Bidston Hill, Hilbre Island, Thor's Stone and the North Wirral Coastal Park. RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands offers the opportunity to go birdwatching on the Dee Estuary.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

The Wirral boasts a number of very good pubs and restaurants, including The Wheatsheaf, which is the area's oldest pub. It offers a classic British menu in both the pub and the adjacent barn restaurant, The Cowshed. Close to Mere Brook is The Seven Stars, offering great pub food. Also close by at The Lawns fine dining restaurant, and The Red Fox, a fabulous gastro pub. A little further afield, The Devon Doorway, Gusto's Italian and Paolo's Pizzeria are all great options.

At the roundabout of junction 4 of the M53 take the road to Clatterbridge – you will go past the hospital on your right and come to a roundabout with a garage in the middle of it, go straight across this roundabout and then at the next smaller roundabout TURN LEFT into Thornton Common Road. You will go past the rugby club on your left, continue on this road and you will see a sale sign “Potatoes for Sale” on the right hand side, slow down as we are the next property and our entrance is at the end of a long brown wooden fence - the sign is low down at the side of the entrance – come and you will see the house
