This elegant, stylishly restored Edwardian house is owner -managed by the Kennedy family, who combine a warm, friendly welcome with country house hotel comforts, and a relaxed personal touch.

Lindeth Fell is a hidden gem, nestled in 7 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, the perfect place for afternoon tea on the terrace, a game of croquet on the lawn or an evening glass of Pimm's by the private lake. It is a perfect, peaceful and relaxing getaway. Soak in stunning views over breakfast. Practically everything is home made, including marmalade, Greek yoghurt, nutty granola, fruit compotes. Cooked breakfasts are prepared to order by chef Jo Kennedy, while Mum Diana is famous for her teas - scones, lemon drizzle cake, brown sugar meringues, shortbread and cookies.

Most of the of the 14 elegant bedrooms have lake views. All have crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen, deluxe fluffy towels, robes, slippers, complimentary sherry, DAB radios, WiFi, flatscreen TVs, tea trays and Nespresso coffee machines. Complimentary tea and home-made scones are offered in the lounge on arrival. There are 3 reception rooms and a fully stocked bar. Guests have use of a state of the art spa at a neighbouring hotel which includes 40ft indoor pool, aromatic steam room, Himalayan sauna & outside vitality pool.

Lindeth Fell is tucked away from the tourist crowds, yet only one mile from the popular attractions of Lake Windermere and bustling Bowness. Beatrix Potters house Hilltop, Hawkeshead village, Grizedale forest, Wordsworth's Dove Cottage at Grasmere, Blackwell Arts and Crafts are all within 30 minutes drive. It offers easy access from the main line station and the M6. Beautiful walks are available from the door, and staff are always on hand to offer suggestions and guidance.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

There isn't full scale dining in operation at Lindeth Fell, but there are generous alternatives. Home made soup, sandwiches and afternoon tea options are available throughout the day, and handsome supper platters can be pre ordered in the evenings. Traditional Sunday Lunch is served every week. There are many excellent restaurants in the area with every taste catered for. From fish and chips by the pier, yo one and two Michelin star restaurants all near by. The staff can offer suggestions and make reservations, and an updated list is kept on the web site of 25 of the best.

Located by Lake Windermere. Leave the M6 at Junction 36. Take A590 for 8 miles to Kendal roundabout. Take the first left onto B5284 for 8 miles through Crook to T-Junction with A5074 (Lyth Valley Road) near Bowness. Turn left and Lindeth Fell is 200 yards on the left. By train: Main line station is Oxenholme. Shuttle train to Windermere. 10 mins by taxi to Lindeth Fell.
