Keepers Cottage is a beautiful, country B&B in a private family home near Glastonbury, Somerset. With landscaped gardens of about one acre and a gorgeous location surrounded by woods and fields, Keepers is as elegant inside as it is out. The epitome of English country house comfort and style.
What makes a stay at Keepers Cottage unique?
There are just three guest suites at Keepers, two in an oak-framed annexe where the old gamekeeper's stables stood, and one in the former hay loft between the annexe and the main house. With each suite having it's own private entrance, guests have absolute privacy, quiet, and the ability to come and go as they please.
Both the main house and guest suites exude a rustic charm with stripped wooden floors, vaulted, oak-beamed ceilings, and stylish furnishings, whilst still retaining an individual character. Breakfast is usually served around the kitchen table in the main house, although for guests that prefer a really lazy, decadent start to the day there's also a ‘breakfast in bed' service with delivered breakfast hampers.
What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Keepers Cottage?
There are 3 double rooms at Keepers. The 2 rooms in the oak-framed annexe are all on the ground floor and open onto a terrace overlooking the garden. One has a private sitting room, the other a private outside deck with seating area, both have king-sized beds and large, modern bathrooms. These rooms can also be made interconnecting if desired.
There's also a superking suite in the former Hay Loft which has a private sitting room with woodburning stove. It's bedroom is upstairs in what would have been the loft (NB the superking bed can be set as a twin).
All suites have Egyptian cotton sheets, waffle robes, and luxurious bathrooms with drench showers and L'Occitane toiletries.
What can guests enjoy when staying in the Glastonbury area?
Glastonbury Tor with its ruined tower dominates the local skyline. In the town itself (just a short walk from the Tor), is the Abbey that is reputed to be the site of the first Christian Church in Britain, and according to legend, was founded by Joseph of Arimathea.
Its rural position totally surrounded by fields and woods means that Keepers is an absolute haven for wildlife with bats, owls, deer and hare to be seen in the garden and adjoining fields. For walkers there are numerous footpaths on the doorstep. In fact for those who are interested in walking, cycling, watching wildlife, or just exploring the Somerset countryside and historic towns and villages, Keepers Cottage is the ideal base.
Where can guests enjoy food and drink?
Good food is a big part of life at Keepers with host Emma a trained chef, and now a passionate home cook. There's homemade cake & tea on arrival, and freshly baked cookies each day in your room. At breakfast you'll find homemade granolas, mueslis, fruit, plus a choice of cooked breakfast dishes each day, using top quality, locally sourced produce wherever possible. All dietary requirements can be catered for, and you can even opt to have a breakfast hamper delivered to your suite if you can't make it down the garden path to breakfast! For the evening, Somerset also has a thriving pub scene with a number of really excellent 'gastro pubs' just a short drive away.
