Overview

Stay in a carefully restored Grade II listed farmhouse surrounded by the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. Expect pretty rooms with glorious views, homemade preserves, fresh flowers and biscuits by the bedside. Sit outside and watch the sunset or snuggle up in front of the log burner. If one doesn't fancy going out in the evening, supper can be provided.

What makes a stay at Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast unique?

Glorious views, a very warm welcome, acres of outside space to enjoy, great breakfasts, comfortable beds, homemade biscuits, fresh flowers and a log burner. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Hill Farm Bed & Breakfast?

There are two double rooms, both with king-sized beds. One is en-suite with a shower over the bath, and the other has a huge private bathroom with a roll top bath and a separate shower. There are tea and coffee facilities, along with fresh flowers and homemade biscuits. There is a guest lounge and a TV in each room. WiFi is available and there is plenty of parking. Located between Uttoxeter and Ashbourne, Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast is a convenient base for those breaking long journeys.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Ashbourne area?

Somersal Herbert is a small hamlet, where guests are likely to meet horses, sheep and cows! The market town of Ashbourne is known as the 'Gateway to the Peak District'. There are plenty of National Trust properties in this area and of course, beautiful scenery to walk or cycle in, or just to enjoy from the B&B. Uttoxeter, with its racecourse, is nearby.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Fruit often comes from the garden, and yoghurt and homemade granola are also on offer. Guests can choose the 'Full Derbyshire', served on a locally made oatcake, and there is freshly baked bread with Hill Farm preserves, also made with fruit from the garden. What will one choose? For most, the answer is all of it! Evening meals can also be prepared with a little notice. There are pubs and restaurants to eat at, ranging from casual to very smart with an exceptional tasting menu.

5* in every way! Hilary & David, are so special we can only describe them as 'almost extinct' - we have never felt so loved and cared for in a B&B - calm, thoughtful, generous, kind. Delicious home cooked meal - roast chicken with all the trimmings & generous packed lunch to travel next day. A lovely couple with all the ways and charm of a bygone era. Lovely room, comfy bed, huge bathroom, claw bath, power shower, all within a beautifully restored older property, quirky, tasteful. We loved it!!!

A beautifully restored farmhouse retaining all its original charm and character. Wonderful views and a lovely garden to relax in. The rooms are exceptionally clean, with every little thing thought of. The separate bathroom, roll top bath with views over the peaks is sensational. Hilary and David are the perfect hosts - it felt more like staying with friends!

Congratulations on a wonderful restoration! Nothing was too much trouble and your company was a pleasure. Beautiful room, slept all night, rare for me! Food, can't fault it, better than any we ate out, hope to see you again.

Thank you so much Hilary and David for a perfectly gorgeous get away! Your little touches and kind thoughtfulness have made our stay here really special and the accommodation itself is delightful.
