Overview

Cook House is situated in the historic Cumbrian village of Levens overlooking Kent Estuary and Morecambe Bay,which together form a dramatically changing backdrop to this beautiful home. The house was formerly a seventeenth century cook house for weary travelers making their way across the the valley on their way to market. Typical of the area Cook House is perfectly located for exploring the Southern lakes as well as a convenient stop off the the way to Scotland. You'll be welcomed on arrival with afternoon tea in the conservatory, garden or beside a cosy fire in the drawing room. Lucy has made this house into a most comfortable home that is light and sunny and furnished with fine art, furniture and family photographs. The bedrooms are very comfortable and offer every luxury for guests. One is ensuite and the other an adjoining spacious modern bathroom. Both overlook a rose garden, one part of several pretty gardens surrounding Cook House, all designed by Lucy. The Hosts: Lucy grew up in the nearby family home of Levens Hall which is now run by her nephew. Generations of family artists precede lucy and she herself is a talented water-colourist, photographer and flower arranger. The location: Levens is 4 miles from Kendal. 10 minutes from the M6 J36. Close by Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall and Leighton Hall. The famous damson blossom in the Lyth Valley and the Lakes on your doorstep.
