Overview

Clapton Manor is a 17th century Cotswold stone manor house set in the middle of an area of ANOB and sits perched on top of a hill overlooking The Windrush Valley. It has now been doing bed and breakfast for 25 years, and now 75% of its guests are either themselves returning customers or friends/relations of those who have previously stayed.

What makes a stay at Clapton Manor unique?

Clapton Manor has been standing for 400 years. Despite this, the inside does have all mod cons and lovely open fires in the winter. During the summer, guests often enjoy their afternoon tea with homemade cake, sitting in the garden, which the owners evidently take great pride in.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Clapton Manor?

Clapton Manor has two rooms. The Windrush Room can be a superking or twin and The Garden Room is a kingsize double.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Cheltenham area?

Clapton Manor is five minutes away from Bourton-on-the-Water. Oxford and Blenheim are half an hour away. Warwick Castle and Stratford are 45 minutes away.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Breakfast on Gloucester Old Spot sausages and bacon, kippers or smoked salmon. Homemade bread and jams are available. There are many outstanding pubs within 10-15 minutes.

Arrival information & directions

Address: Clapton-on-the-Hill, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, CheltenhamGL54 2LG, United Kingdom

Once in the village continue down the road until you reach the village green (this is really a triangular bit of grass with a letter box in one corner) whereupon you bear right, and then keeping this grass to your left, past a house called The Granary and past a house called The Shippon. You will then be outside Clapton Manor that looks down the hill. Do not go down the hill! It is the large house immediately to the left of the Church of St.James (there is a church notice board with its name on it) facing down the hill with a yellowey-green front door. Beyond this there are two gateposts, one with a stone ball on it, and inside this is the parking area. Please park your car there facing the wall (as there is then space for two cars side by side beside the kennel) and don't worry about access to the garage as it's not used. The front door is through the wrought iron gate into the garden.
