Overview

Camomile Cottage B&B provides luxury bed and breakfast accommodation and has been awarded a 4 Star Silver rating by East of England Tourist Board. A rustic 16th century Grade II listed Suffolk cottage in a quiet rural location it is ideally situated for exploring the historic towns and villages of East Anglia. Heavily timbered, furnished with antiques and with large gardens it offers privacy in a rural location. Within easy reach of Lavenham, Southwold, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Kersey, Diss, Bressingham, Thetford and only one hour from historic Cambridge. London is 1.5 hours away by train from Diss.

What makes a stay at Camomile Cottage unique?

You will enjoy a personal and private getaway in Suffolk's beautiful countryside with only two double bedrooms. Unlike other b&b's, you're welcome to lounge in the cottage and gardens all day long if you just want to rest. Relax in your own private lounge with a bottle of wine or lay in the garden in summer days on the steamer chairs, and do absolutely nothing!

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Camomile Cottage?

Camomile Cottage offers just two bedrooms. The Oak Room which has a period French bed, with low, 'mind your head' doorways and The Elm Room fitted with an antique French Louis XVI Style bed, with original wide elm floorboard on a sloping floor! Be rest assured - you will get a good night's sleep in either bedroom. The beds are kitted out with comfortable mattresses, feather pillows and goosedown duvets covered in Egyptian cotton bedding.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

At your arrival, enjoy a cup of tea or fresh coffee and a generous helping of homemade cake! Breakfast is served between 8:30 – 9:30am unless otherwise arranged.

Reviews

We returned to Camomile Cottage after far too long a time away and were once again captivated by its beauty and it's wonderful hosts Aly & Tim. The welcome we received is, I have to say, the warmest welcome we have received in any establishment. The cottage has been beautifully restored and exquisitely furnished and you are immediately met with a sense of peace and tranquility on entering. The rooms are of generous portions with the every item one would need. They too are beautifully decorated and have the comfiest of beds imaginable. On arrival Aly provided us with a tray of warm drinks along with some delicious cake both thoroughly enjoyed in front of the crackling wood burner. There are two bedrooms in the cottage and gusts have their own lounge, kitchen and stunning garden room in which to relax and look out onto the fantastic garden. Breakfast was outstanding with a choice of numerous cereals, fresh fruits & berries along with yogurts, a full array of hot choices from Eggs Royale to the superb full English all served with Aly's freshly baked bread. We discovered Camomile Cottage some 4 or so years ago and were blown away by it and I can honestly say that feeling has not changed on our return. If you are looking for a peaceful haven retreat with fantastic hosts then this is THE place to go. Absolutely outstanding!

Wide eyed lover

On a friend's recommendation we spent two nights at Camomile Cottage. I don't often write reviews on Trip Advisor, but this was without a doubt the best B & B we have ever stayed at, so I wanted to endorse all the wonderful things other people have said about it. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, decorated and furnished, full of lovely objects and artwork, and feels very much like a home, not an 'establishment'. One real bonus is the large and very cosy living room for guests' use, with facilities for drinks in the kitchen next door, which you can use at any time. Aly is an exceptionally welcoming and friendly hostess, and this is what makes the whole experience so outstandingly good.

We stayed at Camomile Cottage about 5 years ago and made a long overdue return last weekend to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. The welcome from Aly and Tim was just as wonderful as I remembered. You are greeted with tea and coffee and a fabulous homemade cake. As they only have two rooms it felt as if the four of us had our own cottage. The cottage is gorgeous and bursting at the seams with character. The bedrooms are charming with an extremely comfortable bed and the breakfasts provided by Aly are outstanding. Will definitely not leave it so long to return next time.

Book it NOW! This converted Suffolk longhouse stuffed full of objets d'art and antiques is wonderfully comfortable and homely as it is, but the star of the show is your hostess Aly. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she will cheerfully go the extra mile many times over to make sure your stay is perfect. She does a mean breakfast too! We loved it. Stayed March 2016, travelled as a couple

Gourmay

We stayed in the barn on the edge of the B&B which is just stunning. Aly has the most wonderful taste and it is a perfect, romantic place to hide away in! Aly and Tim are really friendly, we had a lovely complimentary basket of goodies and we literally hibernated for five nights. Thank you so much.
