Buscot Manor Front of House
Overview
With bedroom names like Wordsworth, Keats, Shelley and Bryon you get a glimpse of the quintessential English spirit of Buscot Manor, a charming B&B in the heart of rural Oxfordshire in The Cotswolds. On arrival the 17th Century house, sitting in beautiful grounds with the historic River Thames and Buscot Lock a stone's throw away, fulfills that idyllic country vision while inside the oak floors, four-poster beds, roll top baths, characterful fireplaces, leaded windows with village views continue to tick all the right boxes, yielding splendorous sleeping quarters. For accommodation with easy access, there is a ground floor annexe. Wake up to locally sourced breakfasts in the elegant dining room, decorated with antique chairs and rug, and snuggle up next to the cosy fireplace in the grand drawing room in the evenings. It's very much a family affair at Buscot Manor, where owner Romney and family (including the dog!) welcome families, pets and even horses to share the beauty of their home and surroundings.
Reviews
We stayed there for 3 nights with our baby daughter (1 1/2 years old) and it was fantastic! The rooms are really tastefully decorated, the breakfast is sumptuous, the private bathroom (with free standing bath) was great for a relaxing soak, and Romney was a wonderful hostess, who made us feel really welcome from the moment we walked in. Despite the fact we visited in the middle of winter, the whole house was wonderfully warm, with excellent heating and good, old-fashioned thick walls!
However, the real highlight was how well it worked for us as parents with a young child. When our daughter went to bed we could go downstairs and relax in the comfortable drawing room, knowing that she was safely within earshot. If we needed to entertain her then we could walk to the river or the nearby children's play area (with swings, etc) - both very close - or (if time was short) make use of the drawing room downstairs. Romney very kindly lent us several toys for the duration of our stay, as well as a travel cot and high chair. We really could not have asked for anything more in a B&B. We hope to visit again one day!
