Overview

Burnville House is a Georgian house situated in countryside that touches the edge of Dartmoor. The house sits in informal gardens and there are magnificent views from all the guest rooms and drawing room. Rooms have queen size beds and antique furniture. Enjoy a farmhouse breakfast and select from a sumptuous evening meal menu, prepared from local ingredients and produce from the farm. If you prefer there are local pubs and award winning restaurants available with a driver service offered by your hosts. A great base to explore Devon/Cornwall and the many attractions in the area.

My husband and I spent our brief honeymoon in the Derbyshire room in July. Everyone raves about this place and rightfully so. Set in a beautiful landscape with its own fields of sheep, and Dartmoor hills in the distance with a wonderful view of the nearby St Michaels church, their 3 b&b rooms are gorgeous with fresh flowers, home-made biscuits, and sheery every day. We were looked after so hospitably by Vanessa who couldn't do too much for us. Her homemade rosemary cake was to die for which she brought to our room to fortify us for our walk up to St Michaels Church. We dined one night in the farm and the meal was very good, but it was the breakfast that really knocked us out. The best we have ever been presented with at any hotel either of us have ever stayed in - including lots of Five stars. Proper freshly-squeezed orange juice greeted us, with a plate full of freshly-cut fruit (raspberries, blueberries, apricots, nectarines, pineapple, melon), homemade fruit compote to mix with their homemade maple syrup-covered nut and granola mix and greek yoghurt (in case you didn't fancy the wonderful pots of local yoghurt also on offer), followed by chunky toast and a cooked breakfast menu that delivered top-quality choices cooked to perfection. We got excited every morning to enter the dining room! Which, by the way, is beautiful with the same wonderful view of the countryside and a welcoming log fire lit in the grate. One also has use of their very grand drawing room for chilling out in and their games room with pool table, table-tennis, table football and skittle alley. They have a heated outdoor pool and tennis court which B&B guests can also use, and one is also free to wander around the farm and kitchen garden. A huge surprise this place, and it made our honeymoon very special. Thanks Burnville Farm.

Fantastic and all prepared and offered from the heart Coming from Munich, Germany, we discovered this fantastic manorial B&B in 2010 and were convinced that whenever we would come back to Southwest England we would stay in this accommodation. In May 2016 we were able to visit Devon/Cornwall again and stayed 4 days at Burnville Farm with our family (now 2 adults 60 and 51, two kids 22 and 15). And again it was a huge pleasure for us. All was prepared from the heart, the rooms, the breakfast, the dinner (if you choose). It included extraordinary large beds and bedrooms, thick fleecy towels, a carafe of sherry on the rooms, large bathrooms with all kinds of shampoo, lotion etc. from best brands … Breakfast is awesome as well, fresh seasonal fruit, all kinds of egg (incl. Benedict or Florentine), waffles, pancakes. And the same if you take the optional diner from a menu that offers more than 10 different dishes. We will always come back and strongly recommend this facility with total conviction. (Or should we keep it undetected as a real insiders' tip?)

We stayed at Burnville at the end of March on a beautiful sunny weekend. We had the Derbyshire Room which was just fantastic, gorgeous big bed, extra touches like home made biscuits and sherry and a stunning view across to Brentor. Everything about the weekend was perfect. The food was amazing, the house beautiful and the welcome from the owners just wonderful. This is easily the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended!

Victoria Cunningham - perfect hostess, her attention to detail in her magnificent Georgian home where one feels like a house guest. The beds are fantastic; bedrooms gorgeous with superb views (even have a carafe of sherry!) I have eaten around the world but Victoria's breakfast is 9* and dinner even better served in style at a fantastic table.

Superb comfort, beds, mattresses, bed linen all of the highest quality. Rooms huge and well furnished with antique furniture. Bathrooms also very well appointed. Breakfasts to die for, all fresh food. Evening meals, if booked, similarly excellent and highest quality. Spotlessly clean, fab place!

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Beautiful house, open fires, views to dream about, lambs and the best food I have ever had at a B&B!
