This is just one of those places you fall in love with as soon as pull up outside. The castle stands alone with a great view of Loch Creran in the background. Even as we unloaded our luggage we could see people who were driving by (on a very quiet road) stopping to admire it. We were greated very quickly by Abbie & Daniel, given an intro to the castle and shown to our room. We stayed in the Lochnell Room on the top floor. The room (more of a suite) was very spacious, very classy decor and spotless. The four poster bed was the main feature in the room but you can't forget the great view of the loch out of the bedroom window. The castle is a B&B so we ate out each evening, visiting Oban on each occasion which is about a 20 min drive away. Upon returning we found the fire burning in the main ballroom and a variety of glasses & ice left to suit your own supplied drinks. Breakfast was fabulous, a great choice, particularly for me being Gluten Free - Abbie showed a great understanding and interest in how they could supply a better choice of gluten free food (although the choice is already great). We loved exploring the castle, the hidden doorways, passage ways and all the historical info scattered about the place. We also took a nice walk from the castle to the Isle of Eriska which takes just a couple of hours and on one of the days we took a day trip to Mull via the ferry from Oban (Abbie kindly phoned ahead and checked the ferries were running due to high winds). We really enjoyed our 3 nights here and were very sad to leave. We'd recommend this place to everyone, not just for the castle but also the great hospitality shown by Abbie and Daniel

We stayed in the Caithness room for one night, and I didn't want to leave. The castle is beautiful, and wait until you see the Great Hall. My husband and I sat by the fire for hours the day we arrived, and it was like the castle was all ours! Abbie and Daniel are wonderful hosts. Daniel even drove us to a local restaurant so we could enjoy both drinks with our dinner! We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Scotland. Barcaldine Castle allowed me to live a fairytale for a night. I'll never forget my stay there.

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights with Abbie and Daniel at Barcaldine Castle. The castle and our hosts were both incredibly welcoming, kind and comfortable. The location is stunning and just a few minutes drive to Oban. The castle is still spectacular, however the real treat were Abbie and Daniel. Amazing hosts with nothing but kindness and hospitality. Highly recommended.

From the ambiance to the accommodations, this castle is the ultimate experience in Scotland. The hosts are lovely people and they give you all you ask in assistance. The castle grounds are amazing for exploration. The locale is centralized and perfect for a home base to explore western Scotland.

We spent a lovely time at Barcadline Castle. Beautiful rooms, a very nice atmosphere. Abby is also a lovely guest ! In the evening, she prepared for us a excellent Cranachan (Scottish desert). And the breakfast, waow !! And we found the secret stairs. but didn't meet the ghost....

Its a fantastic place, very historical and the renovation of the castle is very tasteful and with respect of the story. There was everything to think of, very kind service and locally organic snacks and shampoo like facilities. Definitely a recommendation from us!

A bit off the beaten track but worth the effort. Hosts were amazing. You get the run of the great hall (along with the other guests). Delicious breakfast and perhaps the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

Our hosts, Ronnie and Lizzie were extremely hospitable and helpful. The castle accommodation was luxurious, unusual and interesting. Look out for the secret passages the dungeon and the resident ghost!

Just perfect, not a detail wrong, definitely a 5 STAR.
