Overview

Ansells Farm B&B is a friendly, comfortable 16th century farmhouse in idyllic peaceful surroundings. Our two bedrooms offer tea/coffee making facilities, homemade biscuits, TV and local information folders. Breakfasts include homemade breads, preserves and other goodies, and plenty of fresh local produce (fried ´Full English´ is not our style!). Stephen´s a professional singer and Melinda a free-lance writer, so the house is full of books, music and art which guests are welcome to enjoy. With its easy-going atmosphere, Ansells is perfect for relaxing or exploring the villages and countryside of Constable Country and the Stour Valley. We don´t charge a supplement for single guests, accommodating them at the same rate where this is convenient.

I stayed at Ansells Farm while on a walking holiday of the Stour Valley in July. I arrived in the late afternoon during heavy rain and was immediately welcomed inside by Melinda and Stephen who took good care of a very wet hiker, arranging for clothing and boots to be dried by the Aga while tea and home made cake were served in a beautiful farmhouse kitchen along with some wonderful conversation. After a restful sleep Melinda provided a substantial non-cooked breakfast the following morning along with some additional small cakes for my onward journey. For the weary traveller along the Stour Valley Ansells Farm, to paraphrase the words of Tolkien, is most certainly

A gem of a find in a scenic part of East Anglia. Stephen and Melinda made us feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay in their beautifully restored farmhouse. Our room was warm, comfortable and overlooked the gardens. We couldn't have been more delighted with the delicious breakfast which featured homemade bread, loaves, preserves, local honey and traditional accompaniments.

We are Dutch and for the second time at Ansells farm. We got a very warm welcome and felt immediately at home. The rooms are so gently decorated and sleeping there is a pleasure. The breakfast is excellent, you can choose whatever you like, everything fresh and homemade. The area is beautiful especially for walkers! Elsbeth and Greta (the Netherlands)

Excellent traditional English B&B. Glorious location in the countryside so beloved of painters. Very clean, quiet and peaceful. Delicious farmhouse breakfast with homemade breads, jams, fresh fruits and the proprietors own blend of tea, all beautifully presented. Private setting but close to all area attractions.
