Reviews

I really can't say how thoroughly pleased I was with the visit. The surroundings of Bassenthwaite, the distillery and each and every one of your staff from the tour to the gift shop to the Bistro were excellent at every stage. I literally loved every minute. The female guide was excellent, very pleasant, informative and gave a great - and very knowledgeable tour which both my Step-Dad and myself loved every minute of. I particularly liked the fact that I was acknowledged as a founder before and during the tour, while I felt a little like a "celeb" of sorts it was nice to have been acknowledged. It was amazing to see the distillery and the founders casks and also the plaques with all the founders names - luckily I managed to find my own on there which put a massive smile on my face. While I've invested in the Lakes Spirit and take more to a whisky (so without question loved the One Blended Whisky) I was equally as pleased, if not even pleasantly surprised at the high quality of both the One Gin and One Vodka. I expected them to be good but my god, the Vodka is as close if not better than my favourite Grey Goose. And the Gin, which became an instant new favourite currently sits in my freezer for sipping neat as advised by our lovely tour guide is just stunning and still surprises me with every taste. We capped off our tour with an excellent meal care of your Steak Night Menu at the Bistro with a few drinks which was perfect as the sun went down. Following my visit I am even prouder to be a Founder, and look forward to watching what will be an exceptional spirit with the Lakes Spirit develop and grow over the years (having tasted year one, I'm incredibly impressed how it's turning out) and wish you every success...but I know you'll succeed - you already have a winning formula.

Have just had a very nice visit to the Lakes Distillery. Our original plan was to have a Sunday Lunch but then decided to do a tour before. Amanda our guide was knowledgable and took the time to explain the brief history of the distillery and the making of Whiskey and other spirits. After the tour we spent some time in the well appointed shop purchasing some of the local product. It was then time for dinner, the service was good and the meals were plentiful and tasty. I had the roast beef with Yorkshire puddings. A very nice Sunday afternoon.

I just wanted to say thank you for a truly fantastic visit. We came today for the tour and afternoon tea and it was all amazing! Your distillery is so inspirational, your staff passionate about what they do, your ethics outstanding, your whisky, gin and vodka amazing and your afternoon tea to die for! So, so refreshing to find you, we will most certainly be back, every time we have visitors! Special mention of Simon who conducted our tour, a huge credit to the distillery.

Attended the lakes distillery with the family with an 11 year old. Great for all members as the tour guides are very knowledgeable and approachable. Reasonably priced, under 12's free. Beautiful locations and the restoration of the building is amazing. The tasting session at the end is very good. Squash for the kiddies of course. Would definitely recommend a visit to the distill when in the lakes. Close to Keswick as well, if that's where your staying.

In a completely renovated historic model farm, this is a great new venture. On site there is a bistro and shop as well as the distillery itself which is producing whisky (when it is matured enough to be sold as such), gin and vodka. We had a fascinating guided tour which we would recommend.

We got a great Groupon deal and checked it out, I'm not into alcohol at all but my other half is and he really enjoyed it. Food in the bistro was fantastic and a good price would definitely return!
