Beautiful Village Found on the north devon coast Just up from Hartland Point Privately owned village perched on steep slope . Cobbled streets, lots of hanging fuschias, sleepy cats, two pubs, the New Inn half way down and at the bottom is the Red Lion both owned by the same company. (Both do a good B &B) a couple of gift shops and a methodist chapel. Just beautiful to look at, famous clovelly donkeys You can take a landrover ride from top to bottom if stayung. Try the lobster at the Red Lion. Locally caught In the evening sit outside the pub and watch the sun go down with the fishing boats bobbing around, little lights twinkling in the cabins. The sea breeze is intoxicating Just pure Devon ish heaven, There is a tourist centre at the top (pricey! Be aware) One of my favourite places in the UK. if you fancy a swim go to Hartland point , just along the coast . Also visit Bucks Mills nearby. Take lots of pictures explore the coastline. Just go, its fabulous. ..?

Something different and well worth it We turned up here without knowing what was here, so i asked the helpful lady inside the shop. She briefly explained, and it seemed like something different. Well, it certainly is that. A mere £7.25 each (£2.50 of that goes towards car parking). An amusing walk down a long and winding road on slippy cobbles brings you to a wonderful "chocolate box" village. Going into the fishermans cottage was fascinating, learning about the village and those that lived there. The Quay is just stunning and looking back up gives you the most wonderful views. It is steeped in history of pirates and fishing. We had a pit stop at the Red Lion, which again is a lovely historic pub. Now we were all up for the huge up hill walk back... but instead opted for the Land Rover experience to save our legs! We then had enough energy left to see the donkeys and a look around the shop. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, its like going back in time.

4 * A pretty fishing village set on a steep hill. Little cobbled streets and pretty cottages lead down to a small harbour. Was a very windy day but once you get into the Village, it's very protected so you don't feel the wind. Cobbles are slippy when wet though so make sure you are wearing flat shoes with a good grip. The Fisherman's cottage you can look around has some good historical information about the Village and the attached small museum also holds some interesting information about the author of the Water babies, Charles Kingsley who grew up there. There are a couple of good pubs and tea rooms to stop and catch your breath on the way back up the hill. The donkeys are lovely and the pottery shed provides arts crafts for the whole family. On a clear day the views would be spectacular and it must be really pretty in the summer. It's a really pretty village that takes you back in time.

5* Amazing, interesting, quirky. I knew what to expect when visiting Clovelly - having wanted to visit for many years. I wasn't disappointed. It's a residential, working village. It has the added attraction of the spectular views, the quirky cobbled stone walkway, and beautiful, to die for houses. Having seen pictures of the village full of people in summer, it was nice to visit in the winter months and just do what we enjoy; wandering around at a leisurely pace taking in everything around us. We hope to be back to experience Clovelly in summer. J.N, London.

Devon's Secret Wow! What an amazing place for all the family. A village lost in time. It was mentioned in the Doomsday Book. You must wear comfy walking shoes as the streets are cobbled. Also take into account the climb back up after you've reached the harbour and refreshed yourself. The village cottages are all so quirky and different, arranged in an uneven pattern and decked in bright foliage. I was there in Autumn but flowers were blooming everywhere. Truly a spectacle of loveliness. I simply have to go again.

Nicky, Strood. Visited here for the second time in a year in October 2017. I am totally in love with this quaint, beautiful village. There are many attractions to this amazing part of North Devon. The steep cobbled streets are full of historical attractions and over look a picturesque fishing harbour and the sea. At the visitors centre you have the opportunity to view a film all about the history of the village. We stayed at the Red Lion where we had a beautiful room with en suite facilities.

4* The view from the top is wonderful and glimpses of the harbour on the way down made the walk totally worthwhile. There is a small museum house worth going through and reading about how the village came to be. There are a couple of pubs in the village but we chose to have pasties from the little shop at the harbour front. Sandra F., Hampshire
