"The name of this four-star B&B is deceptive, as it’s actually the sweeping views of the River Wye that make a lasting impression. Set in an acre of gorgeous gardens dotted with fishponds and perfect lawns sloping down to the river, it’s spot-on for a weekend away from it all. The ten en suite bedrooms all have the view, as does the lounge and bar and if you manage to extract yourself from the memorising vista, there are decent pubs and restaurants within strolling distance."

Review of Forest View

We only live 40 miles away but used to vist FV as inspectors for the Ashley Courtenay guide some years ago. We knew they had a great location with views of the river Wye from all the rooms. We had enjoyed a lovely walk in the Forest of Dean and on pulling into the car park of the FV we were greeted by Gill who took us to room 3 with its windows looking both ways on the river. The whole place is spotless and well equipped. The owners suggested we book a meal at he Saracens Head next door as they were not providing dinner on the night of our visit. This turned out to be excellent too. Breakfast, pre ordered the night before, was taken in the dining room with lovely river views again. Very attentive service, good food, and a wonderful fresh fruit salad to start. This place really is a gem.

We almost don't want to say how wonderful FV is, but it would be selfish to keep this to ourselves. New owners (& delightful hosts) deserve the highest praise for providing all the qualities of a first class guest house. Set amid spectacular scenery in an elevated position overlooking the River Wye, all rooms have river views. Our room (8) was well appointed & the picture window downstream view was to die for. The dining room had a similar view downstream towards Monmouth & this could be enjoyed not just at breakfast but during evening meals as well (which were an unexpected bonus). The food was extremely good at both ends of the day & the evening meals were great value for money. If the evening weather had been decent, nothing could have been better than sitting in the garden drinking in those views & a glass or two of decent Chilean Red. Keep up the good work Gill & John. We will surely see you soon.

Gill and John are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Stunning location, all that is required of the guests is to chill out. Would recommend a visit without any hesitation, we shall certainly be returning. Thank you once again to G and J for their hospitality.

Excellent guest house in stunning location. The owners gave us a warm welcome, and couldn't have been kinder, being especially helpful with dietary requirements. The views from the bedrooms and restaurant were amazing, overlooking the River Wye, and Symonds Yat Rock is only a 20 minute walk from the guest house.

We stayed at Forest View for two nights and discovered a haven of peace and tranquility with welcoming hosts.
Forest View is perfectly positioned on the banks of the River Wye, it is very clean and well looked after by Gill & John along with the friendly staff. The food is very good and the views from the rooms are first class.
All in all a very relaxing weekend was had by us and we look forward to returning in the near future!

This Hotel is in an excellent location beside the River Wye, and most of the rooms have superb views of the river. Gill and John, the owners, are very friendly / welcoming hosts. Breakfast offer a wide choice and are delicious, as are the home cooked bar meals.
