The Blue Lion was originally built towards the end of the 18th century as a coaching inn and has been extensively, but sympathetically renovated to what is now widely regarded as one of the north of England’s leading country inns. The beautiful and individually decorated bedrooms are fully equipped to meet the needs of the discerning, modern visitor, whilst retaining the charm of the 18th century inn. The candlelit restaurant provides a stunning setting in which to enjoy a gourmet meal. All the food is freshly prepared, using a wide variety of mainly Yorkshire ingredients. The wine list is extensive, carefully chosen and not prohibitively expensive.
