Ashwick House Hotel snuggles in glorious isolation on the south eastern edge of Exmoor National Park, high above the lush tree clad valley of the tumbling River Barle. Each of the rather special bedrooms are individually decorated and furnished to a very high standard with a host of thoughtful, personal touches. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu using local produce whenever possible, complemented by an intelligently stocked wine cellar. Residents may take breakfast and dinner in the restaurant or, weather permitting, out on the restaurant terrace, overlooking the sweeping lawns and water gardens.

Local directions: From the M5 exit at jnct 27 and join the A361 to Tiverton. Turn onto the A396 in a northerly direction, and then take the B3222 to Dulverton. In Dulverton take the B3223 to Lynton and Exford. Follow this road for approximately 4 miles, climbing up onto Exmoor. Once on the moor, turn left at the signpost to Ashwick House, immediately after crossing the second cattle grid.
