Overview

Knockomie Inn, a romantic looking 19th century villa, sits in quite an enviable spot – to the east is the world's only Malt Whisky Trail and beautiful hills and glens around Speyside, to the north are the Aviemore and Cairngorm Mountains. The hotel draws on its rich history and former owners, the Fraser family who were wealthy tea merchants, to offer exotically styled rooms – choose the Balvenie Room, which is dressed in crimson colours and decked out in Indian inspired furniture. Bring your loved one and take your pick from the lavish four-poster rooms, or the themed Glenburgie, with its soft natural shades and Scandinavian style furniture – it's the ultimate love nest. When your appetite kicks in there's an extensive local menu featuring oak smoked Scottish salmon and game, sourced from nearby suppliers.

What makes a stay at Knockomie Inn unique?

At Knockomie, tucked away in beautiful wooded grounds, a warm welcome awaits.  They pride themselves on providing a friendly, honest and unstuffy service to an exceptionally high standard.  Guests will love the vast array of Malt Whisky available in the recently re-styled Malt Library Bar, coupled with an extensive Gin selection and a well balanced wine list, there is a tipple to suit all.  Whether enjoying their beer garden in the lovely summer and autumn evenings, or cosying up by the fire in the lounge with a warming dram, guests will be made to feel right at home by the very friendly staff, for whom, nothing is too much trouble.

Knockomie is considered to be one of the top Pet Friendly hotels in the area, and are delighted to welcome all members of the family to the Inn.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Knockomie Inn?

Knockomie Inn has 15 bedrooms, ranging from Master Bedrooms, Grand Master Bedrooms and Four Poster Rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities and each room is individually designed to reflect the eclectic mix in this wonderful Arts & Crafts building.  All of the rooms are named after local whisky distilleries, so you can stay in the MacAllan, The Balvenie or even the Benromach or Dallas Dhu (Forres's own distilleries). Each room has a television, hairdryer and tea tray with luxury items.  Grand Master Rooms also include complimentary mineral water and bath robes. The hotel has one family room available which can take two adults and two children (up to 12 years old) but no additional beds are available.   Ground floor rooms (with access to the gardens) and pet friendly rooms are available on request.  A small nominal charge is made for each dog.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Forres area?

Knockomie Inn and Forres is ideally placed for exploring Moray Speyside with a plethora of things to see and do.  Whether your passion is golf, shooting, bird watching, fishing, walking, visiting historic sites or just relaxing on a beach walk, all are within easy reach.  The beautiful Culbin Forest stretches along the Moray Coastline and is easily accessible.  Forres has two whisky distilleries Dallas Dhu and Benromach, and is a great starting point to explore the Malt Whisky Trail (the only of it's kind in the world).

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Knockomie Inn is delighted to offer a delicious breakfast and guests can choose from continental or Full Scottish Breakfast, or even a Grab and Go breakfast if they want an early start.  The award wining restaurant provides the best of locally sourced produce, cooked and presented with flair.  Should you wish to venture further afield, the hotel will be happy to recommend some local eateries to try.
