Built in the latter part of the 18th Century, during the construction of the Crinan Canal, The Cairnbaan Hotel is stylish and relaxed and has won numerous awards for its fine hospitatlity. It is also among only twelve hotels to be given the status of 'Scotland's Heritage Hotels'. The twelve luxurious and traditional rooms are all individually designed and decorated, pretty and refined. A good restaurant specialises in the use of the finest local produce, for example parfait of Venison, asparagus tartlets, braised shank of Border lamb and herb and garlic mash.

To the south is Kintyre and the Isle of Arran via the Claonaig - Lochranza ferry.
