Tyas Cottage in West Yorkshire, between Marsden and Slaithwaite (a short drive from Huddersfield), is 5 star graded. This self-catering accommodation was converted from a Grade II listed eighteenth-century cottage and its adjoining barn. Tyas Cottage's location, in the Colne valley, holds much of interest for both history and nature enthusiasts, being in an ancient wooded valley and approached via a cobbled pack horse road. It is on the site of the first water powered mill in the Colne Valley (17th C). The cottage is environmentally-friendly, having good insulation, underfloor heating and solar heated water. There are 11 golf courses nearby.

Review of Tyas Cottage

Posted on by A ChapmanType of travel: Couples

We spent a lovely weekend in this secluded haven; the gardens are simply stunning and a true retreat from it all. Nestled at the bottom of a valley, enchanting 'secret gardens' lie off covered archways, laid-back pod-swings overlook a former mill-pond, and dazzling displays of floral colour make the grounds really magical. The cottage has good amenities and, while modern, retains a real sense of character, assisted by the carefully selected furnishings.
