Forest Holidays, Thorpe Forest

Forest Holidays, Shadwell, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 2RX

Thorpe Forest lies in woodland on the banks of the River Thet, close to where the Norfolk and Suffolk borders meet. Here you can escape to a luxury cabin and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a leafy setting with riverside walks. Choose to stay within the forest, or in a delightful open glade. The forest itself is a delicate patchwork of pines, heath land and broad leaf trees, and home to a rich variety of British wildlife, including deer, squirrels, pheasants, wood larks and night jars. The local area offers an array of attractions, from the mystical beauty of the Norfolk Broads to the medieval charms of Bury St. Edmunds.

Furnished to exceptional levels of comfort, your Thorpe Forest cabin will delight you. Choose between a delightfully open woodland glade, or stay within the forest where your cabin blends harmoniously with the woodland surroundings.

Thorpe Forest cabins are designed to be as environmental friendly as possible. Underfloor heating is provided by air source heat pumps and wood pellet boilers which significantly reduce the carbon footprint. This is just one of the many ecologically friendly innovations employed at Thorpe Forest.

Review of Forest Holidays, Thorpe Forest

Posted on by Jules

Our lodge was perfect for us with hot tub and cozy log burner. We didn't really use any on site facilities as were out all day. I do think the bar could be more atmospheric to the setting, we had a drink there whilst waiting for check in but seemed more like an airport bar waiting on a flight! We enjoyed our stay but probably would not return as too far away form anywhere, would of liked a good pub in walking distance... Probably more suited to families.

My husband and I stayed in a Golden Oak Hideaway from 8th to 11th July 2016.
This was our first holiday in the UK so wanted to do something extra special and I have to say we were not disappointed!
We went for the early check in, I would definitely advise it, as it gives you more time to settle in and enjoy more of your holiday.
We were warmly greeted and welcomed to the site and informed about the amenities and activities available.
When we got to our cabin we were amazed. It was absolutely lovely inside and had some goodies waiting for us. There was a bottle of champagne and some chocolates in the fridge, a chocolate fondue complete with the chocolate and marshmallows in the kitchen and some sweets on our bedside cabinet.
The cabin was clean and everything was accessible. The bathroom was amazing! Both the bath and shower were huge.
I would say for the cost of a Hideaway a lick of paint wouldn't go a miss and some of the skirting board by the TV was loose but I'm just being picky!
The hot tub was clean and checked everyday. When we arrived there was someone checking the hot tub and I asked him how to use it (as I'd never been in one before!) and he was so helpful.
On our first night we had pre-booked the curry package which was lovely and there was plenty of it!
On our second day we had an in-cabin massage (which I would highly recommend!) through My Personal Sanctuary. They were great, our therapist was so friendly.
We spent a relaxing long weekend in the cabin as it had everything we needed.
When it came to checking out we really didn't want to leave so took advantage of the 5% discount and booked a week for next May but booked a standard cabin so we can take our dog.
I would definitely recommend Thorpe Forest to anyone looking for a relaxing break in England. The staff are amazing, the forest is beautiful and the cabins are lovely!
