The Hayloft, which has recently been refurbished and awarded 5 stars by Visit England, offers extremely spacious and luxurious accommodation. Situated on the edge of Cropton Forest within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it offers comfort, every possible facility and wonderful views over the forest and towards Newtondale. We have tried to anticipate all of your needs; a local food hamper, a large well equipped kitchen/diner, a spacious lounge with widescreen TV/DVD, a log burner and of course Wi-Fi. There is also a long list of recommended pubs and restaurants for when you don’t want to cook. The Hayloft is ideally placed for walking dogs (who are most welcome) or mountain biking through the forest, exploring the moors or strolling along the beach on Britain’s most beautiful coastline. It’s a perfect base for families to explore all that North Yorkshire has to offer.

Local directions: On arrival in Pickering follow the A170 to the traffic lights signposted to the Steam Railway, Newton upon Rawcliffe and Stape. After passing the station and the level crossing at Newbridge follow the road up across gently rolling hills before arriving in Newton upon Rawcliffe. Follow the road through Newton, past the White Swan pub and after half a mile go past the turn off for Cropton following the sign to Stape. Turn left into Middle Head Road which is approximately 500 yards past the red telephone box. Flamborough Rigg Cottage is the last property on the left roughly ½ mile down the road and is clearly signed.
Bedroom Facilities: The double room is modern, wonderfully light and relaxed yet cosy with an en suite shower room which has under floor heating and a heated towel rail. The twin room has a lovely country feel with its wooden floor, cream painted beds and antique furniture. We feel its a room that works equally well for adults or children. Next door the family bathroom has a double ended bath with a shower, underfloor heating and a heated towel rail.
Property Facilities: The Hayloft has sole use of the fully enclosed garden including it’s sun terrace and barbeque area. The garden has a good sized lawn and is crammed full of interesting shrubs, quite a few varieties of Acer, a surprising number of lilies and many different fruit trees. The first floor rooms have lovely views across the courtyard to Cropton forest and over the gardens towards the Roman Road and Newtondale. The spacious lounge has twin aspect views, comfy sofas and a wood burning stove for those cooler evenings. There is a television with DVD, CD player with an eclectic collection of music, and Wi-Fi internet access. There is a cosy reading nook with a David Weeks Semana chair, anglepoise lamp and more books and magazines than you can shake a stick at! The large kitchen/diner has reclaimed wooden floors, a breakfast bar and a farmhouse table & chairs - ideal for those relaxing holiday breakfasts. In addition to the usual kitchen equipment (electric oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave) there is also a DAB radio with ipod dock.
