The Coach House

Stowlangtoft Estate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP31 3JZ

The grade II listed Coach House, forms one side of a courtyard within the grounds of Stowlangtoft Estate and was in a former life the home to the grooms and horses of the estate.

Entering from the courtyard, the Coach House is split level and has sleeping space for 6. The entrance leads first to the bedrooms (1 double and 2 twin), and a gigantic family bathroom.

Down the short flight of stairs, the heart of the house opens with the living area offering large sofas, wood burning stove, games and books. The contemporary kitchen and open plan dining area is well equipped for culinary exploits and entertainment in equal measure, and boasts views onto the walled garden (a perfect place for children to explore while dinner is prepared) where Dining on a warm summer evening, or even firing up the BBQ is an option.

Stowlangtoft is well appointed for exploring all that the county of Suffolk has to offer, with historic and cultural centres of East Anglia a short distance away and Norfolk just a stones throw away over the border.

Closer to home Stowlangtoft has 1000 acres of stunning countryside outside your door, and has a rich history as a sporting estate over the last 100 years. The current custodians have continued this legacy and Stowlangtoft is still known for its high quality sport. Review of The Coach House

We stayed in the Coach House - it's the best equipped holiday rental I've ever stayed in. It is light and spacious and very clean. Really nice touches are the toys, dressing up clothes and books for children - toddlers love to play with something different and my granddaughter was no exception. She had a whale of a time, with walks and a wooden play frame outside, and lots of space and toys inside. It's a very peaceful, quiet and exceptionally pretty location. The Dark Horse restaurant across the courtyard is ideally situated for a meal, and has a varied menu of tasty well presented food. A word of warning - there is no phone signal, but free Wifi can be used to make calls.

We stayed in the Amherst House with our 2.5 year old son and we didn't want to leave. It was for a get together with friends (16 of us) so we had 4 of the cottages booked. They are all of a similar standard.

The House is VERY well equipped, you will not need to take anything with you as they have everything covered. The quality of the fixtures and fittings is of the highest standard and looks great. The house was nice and snug and looks amazing at night with some low lighting on whilst snuggling up on the large couch.

Nearby (about 15 secs walk) is a nice restaurant and bar which is a converted stable and looks great, again we didnt want to leave.

The grounds are great for walking in and exploring the small areas of woods were great fun for our toddler, he expended SO much energy chasing pheasants that he slept for 13 hours straight!

I would recommend this for families and couples, it was well worth the money and we will be back.

Thank you so much, six of us stayed to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. It was a really fabulous standard well equipped quiet and relaxing. We didn't do a lot of exploring because the weather was so dreary but we enjoyed it immensely. There is a restaurant there too but we had already decided to cook on the first night and go into town on the second night. A real get away from it all with all the home comforts except mobile phone signal - bliss!
