We just got back from a wonderful week at the the self catering cottage. This is a tiny gem of a place with a very special charm. The wood panelled bedroom with a four poster bed is one of the best rooms i`ve slept in [ including tapestried drapes to pull round and the deepest duvet to ward of any late spring chill ].The living area has a fire stove for rainy/cold days and a very well equipped including dishwasher and freezer. Outside the kitchen window you can watch the birds coming to the feeder. We saw Robins Blackbirds Dunnock Blue tits great tits coal tits a great spotted woodpecker ,a very greedy cock pheasant and cheeky squirrels.[And far more birds in the beautiful garden-,wrens,thrushes ,swallows ...owls at sundown] From here you can walk-as far as you like really! We took our motorbike out to get supplies from Ashbourne, but otherwise we could walk all day from the front door.Don`t be put off if Alton Towers seems close,it really is not intrusive at all! A place to enjoy the beauty of the countryside.

We booked Keepers Cottage for a get away from it all Christmas and we weren't disappointed. The cottage has so much character ans is so cosy and despite being small it is really well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The owners went out of their way to make us welcome and had even put up a lovely Christmas Tree and decorations for us which added to the magic. Outside the kitchen window there was a well stocked bird feeder and we saw all sorts of lovely garden birds - blue tits robins great tits coal tits long tailed tits nuthatches tree-creepers and even a cheeky pheasant not to mention the squirrel that kept coming every day.The log burner is really lovely and we really enjoyed coming back into the cottage after a good walk.Would definitely recommend this little place if you want somewhere quiet cosy clean well equipped but also full of charm and character Thank you Chris and Margaret for a wonderful stay.

We had stayed in Keepers Cottage for a couple of nights last October, and liked it so much we decided to return for our holiday this August. We had seriously considered staying as b and b guests in the main house, but decided in the end we would rather be able to cook our own evening meals. The cottage is quirky and fun, but also clean and warm. I enjoyed looking through a photo album of the cottage being done up, fascinating! The gardens surrounding the cottage and farm house are amazing, and a delight to explore. Thoroughly recommend for charm and value for money
