Ye Olde Punchbowl Inn is a traditional country inn with old oak beams, bare floor boards, open fires and low ceilings. An exciting kitchen uses the finest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible to create interesting modern British cuisine. Well conceived starters include a pressed terrine of Yorkshire ham with mulled pineapple chutney, black pudding and goat’s cheese or seasonal risotto with herb oil and balsamic reduction while an inventive main dish of pig's trotters, crispy belly pork, fillet of pork, black pudding and apple puree, glazed leeks and redcurrant jus confirms the kitchen’s ambition. Desserts are equally polished as a vanilla pod crème brulee, home made biscotti and fresh raspberries clearly illustrates. A good wine list provides plenty of choice.
