Whites is an apt name for this restaurant with its clean cut exterior and straightforward approach to the table settings. There are no pretensions to grandeur yet the food produced is both inventive and spectacular. Chef John Robinson’s experience of working in Michelin starred restaurants and overseas is evident in the modern British menu. Roasted langoustine and hand dived scallop may appear with tomato consommé and coriander ‘pesto’ ravioli to start. Quail may be prepared using the sous vide technique and could be served with a miso dressing, onion risotto, apples, carrots and turnips. Desserts could include chocolate and peanut done three ways or the intriguing 'taste of a vegetable garden'.
