The former residence of the poet William Wordsworth offers gourmet dinners to those hiring all five rooms in the 18th-century house providing an intimate and unique dining experience. The menu is lovingly crafted by owner Peter Dixon using the finest local ingredients. A dinner could start with spiced celeriac and chive soup followed by White Moss soufflé of Coniston Water char and oak roast Wastwater sea trout married with free range Grasmere eggs, Westmorland and Ribblesdale cheeses. The main event may be a roast loin of organic “Old English Breed” pork stuffed with prune and pine kernels and all the trimmings. A feather-light chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce could appear next, with the meal rounded off by a selection of British cheeses.
