The original charm of this 16th-century inn have been preserved with low beams, uneven floors and blazing inglenook fires welcoming visitors in the winter months. The West Arms has been commended for its seafood dishes. These could include a mousseline of scampi and gravadlax set on a salad of cucumber and home smoked mussels sprinkled in a tomato and red onion salsa to start or grilled fillets of witch sole with wild River Dee smoked salmon and a lemon, champagne and crème fraiche sauce as a main. For the less fishy minded you could begin with a chicken, rabbit and pigeon terrine followed by a succulent fillet of Welsh lamb in a mint and rosemary crust. Desserts could include a warm pear and almond tart.
